Another full serving of impeachment and 2020 campaign martinis Wednesday.  Join Jim and Greg as they enjoy watching moderate House Democrats float a censure resolution instead of impeachment while progressive Democrats and groups blast Speaker Pelosi for only filing two articles of impeachment.  They also weigh in on the disagreement between President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, as McConnell prefers an impeachment trial that wraps up as quickly as possible and President Trump wants to call lots of witnesses like Joe and Hunter Biden and the whistleblower behind the Ukraine complaint.  And they dig into reports that, if elected, Joe Biden is only planning to serve one term as president.

The Plexiderm ads are aimed at Never Trumpers, because for them appearances are more important than realities.

Jim Geraghty likes to dwell on the prospect of Democrat Senators running for President being forced to sit mutely during a Senate trial.

Seriously?  Jim thinks Spartacus will remain silent?

I predict the Senator-candidates will take the opportunity for grandstanding attacks on Trump, earning the plaudits of the Democratic base and the media.

Realistically, what can the Senate leadership do about it?  Answer:  What they did about Sen. Feinstein’s outrageous behavior during the Kavanagh hearings; i.e., nothing.

Very constructive commentary here. Hope your spleen feels better now.

When you look at the articles of impeachment, I don’t see how the senate CAN’T become a 3 ring circus.  The democrats are loading up too much partisan talking points and chum.

So how does the senate debate the first article particularly the part about Ukrainian interference in the election without a circus?

Every single thing that gets written into that document, Trump should have a chance to dispute, and call witnesses to dispute.  So………  The more Nadler loads it up with Red Meat for the #resistance (you can’t call it a conspiracy theory if its got a brand, the existence of the conspiracy is stipulated), the more clowns and elephants the circus is going to have.

That and I want someone to explain to me why Biden should not be investigated when Bob McDonnell got hemmed up for tons less.

Nobody can even make a credible claim that Trump wasn’t doing EXACTLY what he was SUPPOSED to be doing.

Why should I hate them? I was anti-Trump myself.

Until after the election, that is, when Trump began to prove he really meant the things he had said on the campaign trail.

Where I differ from them is in being able to learn from experience.

Either that, or the Never Trumpers – at least the “famous” ones – were never really in favor of what they had claimed to want, all those years.  That does seem to be the case with some of them, for sure.

I keep thinking of that conservative black professor on The Americans who was actually a Soviet agent.

And I voted for Cruz in the primaries.  But when it became November and (to paraphrase a frequent Jonah quote against him) “the primaries were over,” I sure wasn’t going to vote for Hillary nor was I just going to churlishly stay home because “my vote doesn’t really matter anyway.”

Now I can see that things actually turned out for the better because I think it’s pretty clear that Trump is being more truly conservative in his actions than Cruz would have been.  Including DOING things that other Republican candidates – and even previous Republican PRESIDENTS! – only TALKED ABOUT for years, or DECADES, such as moving the embassy in Israel.

I was more stubborn than you.  I was planning to vote for the two Governors, but I never made it to the polls.
