They also bang their heads on their desks as Philadelphia police make it known they are not going to arrest people for a wide variety of crimes while New York City and other major metropolitan areas look to empty their jails to reduce the risk of the virus spreading. And they wonder why Bernie Sanders continues his presidential when he’s hopelessly behind in the delegate count after another major shellacking on Tuesday.

I usually like this podcast. But Geraghty’s sanctimonious lecture about how the term “Kung Flu” is “demonizing” to Chinese people is too much. Lighten up, Jimbo.
Fortunately, as we’re reminded on a regular basis, Jim Geraghty is always wrong.

I can see a couple rationales for not wanting to put or keep people in jail. Anyone who gets infected and was in jail at any point, will claim they got infected in jail and the lawsuits will be coming. And if they happen to need medical treatment while in jail, whether or not they got infected there, that will also be at taxpayer expense.
Meanwhile, I wouldn’t expect them to give up parking enforcement without a fight. It’s a significant source of revenue, perhaps especially now if people are letting the meters expire while they look for toilet paper or bottled water; and you can’t really call it an issue of “social distancing.”
What’s a stronger word than “wrong”, that won’t get me in trouble?
Reminds me of when John McCain attacked people on his own side for referring to his rival by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama, when he should have been taking every opportunity to do that himself.
Considering that Geraghty’s overall point was that we’ve got to remind people the virus came from China, “ass-backwards” sounds about right.
Well, to be fair, CNN and MSNBC and others have declared that even “China Coronavirus” is not to be tolerated, after using that term themselves for weeks. So maybe it’s worth just sticking with that, and figuring that “Kung Flu” might be a bit much.
Might the gentlemen explain why “kung flu” is inappropriate? The original tweet about this doesn’t explain it. She simply said that someone used the term “to her face,” as if using a humorous slang term was bad because it occurred in the presence of an Asian-American.
If “kung flu” is bad, how about WuFlu, or similar?
Am I the only one that senses non-whiteness has become something we are to regard as sacred, or at least something to be treated with a reverence not at all appropriate for unfashionable and toxic whiteness? Nuts to that.
Not sure why Sanders dropping out would be a good thing, as alleged. Wouldn’t it be better for the whole country if the forces of evil were more divided?
Being divided in the primaries can help to weaken the eventual nominee. But once that’s done, they’re still only going to have one candidate in November.
Uh-oh. Did somebody forget which side he’s pretending to be on?
The CBS Reporter, Weijia Jiang, who claims that a White House staffer said “Kung Flu” in front of her refuses to name the staffer or provide any actual evidence that it was said. When asked directly to identify who said it by both Trump and Kellyanne Conway in different press conferences, she would not (or could not) tell them. This whole story is hearsay. It’s not even he said she said, it’s only she said. You’re repeating hearsay, Geraghty. Spare us the lecture.
