Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Join Jim and Greg as they serve up three martinis, including one bad one they think could end up being good. They discuss unions planning walkouts from teachers, truckers, government employees and others to demand things like Medicare for all, free rent, and defunding the police – but see tremendous potential for this tactic to backfire spectacularly. They also unload on Kamala Harris for reversing her position on fracking and noting her blatant pandering to Pennsylvania voters in the process. And they vent in reaction to a California wildfire starting from a pyrotechnic explosion at a gender-reveal party.

Birthday week? I’ve got birthday month going.
Are teachers who are not actually in classrooms but still apparently being paid, counted as “employed?” If so, if they “strike,” they should certainly not be paid, even if – perhaps especially if! – it causes a “spike” in unemployment. Which will be THEIR FAULT!
In Arizona there were three sponsors of The Three Martini Lunch, which was preceded by one minute of Biden, and followed by three minutes of Joe Biden. I am wondered if this was true nationally, or only in swing states.
It’s different everywhere. While I did have a Biden/Harris commercial from “BlackPAC,” my others were for other things, like the Michigan Lottery.
No political ads at all in Darkest New York State.
In Pittsburgh, the opening advert was for Biden. @garyrobbins checking on your investment? BTW, I did ask on a previous post somewhere, but might have missed if you responded; so I will ask again: Is your support for Biden at the same level as during the primaries? If there has been a shift in any direction, would you be willing to share why?
It is about the same. My fondness for Biden goes down when Biden talks social warrior about focusing more money to the working poor which were the silly ads that bracketed The Three Martini Lunch. And it goes up when Biden speaks expansively about being an American.
My fondness for Biden goes up when I hear or see Trump. The very best thing that Trump could do would be to be locked in the family quarters for 56 days with his thumbs broken so he can’t tweet.
During 2016, I was moved to say out loud “everything I have” as in what would I spend to stop Trump, namely “everything I have.” The pro-choice “EMILY” list stands for “Early Money is Like Yeast.” Early money is like gold. When Biden announced, I hit him with my biggest campaign donation. I was on my way to max out for Mark Sanford when he withdrew. I maxed out ($2,800) for Bill Weld. When Biden won South Carolina I hit him with money again.
Right now I am not giving out a lot of money, other than to people who are running against the Q-Anon folks, such as CO-3, and GA-14.
My biggest expense is buying t-shirts like ones that say “Proud Republican for Joe Biden 2020” and wearing them around, like this picture of me at the Coconino County Courthouse.
If I had extra money right now I’d look forward to the future with money to politicians who did not vote for Trump during impeachment, like Jeff Flake, Larry Hogan and Mitt Romney. I would also look at contributing to Will Hurd, Ben Sasse and Tim Scott who were not loudly proclaiming Trump’s non-existent innocence. I truly miss my non-Trump Republican Party of Reagan, Romney, McCain, Goldwater, Dole and both Bushes.
@garyrobbins — You’re OK with this:
Guaranteeing transgender students have access to facilities based on their gender identity. On his first day in office, Biden will reinstate the Obama-Biden guidance revoked by the Trump-Pence Administration, which will restore transgender students’ access to sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms in accordance with their gender identity.
https://joebiden.com/lgbtq-policy/
When so-called “transgender women” athletes muscle women aside to win all the awards and scholarships, or literally demolish women athletes in contact sports, you’re OK with that?
When surgically unaltered “transgender women“ take over girls’ locker rooms, you’re OK with that?
Is that your idea of the “Republican Party of Reagan, Romney, McCain, Goldwater, Dole and both Bushes”?
He says he’s not ok with stuff like that, but apparently believes he can help Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and others win without getting any of that. Because all HE really wants is to get rid of Trump. And Biden and the others understand that, or something.
Hey @garyrobbins, you should have given us a trigger warning about your picture with the Biden shirt. People were wondering why I was spitting on my phone.
Gary is the “D” in “TDS”!
I’ve seen this kind of thing before.
There was a distinguished scientist who, early in the AIDS epidemic, came up with the hypothesis that the disease was caused by drug abuse. This was barely plausible at the time; but, as evidence collected that the cause was a virus, the scientist simply doubled down and doubled down again.
He simply refused to admit he had been wrong
Those were not the “needles” that the virus was being “injected” with…
