Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America are pleasantly surprised to see a new CBS poll showing that a strong plurality of Americans believe families should stay together but be sent back to their home countries when they come to the U.S. illegally. They also slam Rep. Maxine Waters for suggesting protesters should loudly confront every Trump administration cabinet member whether in restaurants or at the gas station. And they categorically reject columnist George Will’s call for conservatives to vote Democrats into the majorities of the House and Senate as punishment for Republicans who refuse to stand up to President Trump.

I think the biggest potential damage from Donald Trump’s crudeness and unreflective actions is that Democrats will be greatly boosted. George Will, who I used to greatly admire, wants to do this damage on purpose.
After Will’s attack in place of an obituary at the death of Billy Graham, I lost respect for him. Now I can’t imagine reading him again. (And I love baseball.)
Just think, our genius icon of conservatism, George Will, wants us to elect more Maxine Waters this November. That will work well.
For a lot of these pundits, Trump needs to fail – or they would have to admit they were wrong about him. And who wants to admit they were wrong!
I admit I was wrong about Donald Trump. I was afraid that, once elected, he would pull a Schwarzenegger and govern from the left.
Then again, if George Will got his way and Trump faced Democratic supermajorities for the next two years, he might have no choice but to switch to governing from the left.
Will also fails to recognize the fact that modern progressives and their allies in the media will monsterize any Republican President. Remember how often wimpy, moderate George W. Bush was called Hitler!
