I’d like to remind people that there is a huge difference between talking about Right and Left—and democrats “moving to the Left”— and Totalitarians taking over.

A good reminder of the difference is presented by Theodore Dalrymple’s wonderful, real-life short book, “The Wilder Shores of Marx: Journeys in a Vanishing World.”

Please read this in order to understand, and be reminded, why millions of thoughtful, reluctant Trump voters no longer see our politics as business as usual. Dalrymple’s book is a wake-up call.

Is anyone at all anywhere surprised by this?   Bill Kristol surely knew that he was joining the Left for good, like Max Boot, Jennifer Rubin, David Frum, etc.  And David French has now dedicated his life to self-righteously scolding all evangelicals to the right of Brian McLaren as though we are clones of Jerry Falwell Jr.

There isn’t a whole lot of space remaining for Trump-skeptical conservatives these days.  I wonder how thrilled Jay Nordlinger is now with his principled Burkean/Hayekian presidential choice (Ted Cruz).

BTW, Troy, listen to  the audio of this #631 vs. the audio of  The Libertarian  #630.  This one is virtually inaudible- I tried to listen on my mp3 player while working out and missed about 75% so I deleted it, 630 is very good.

People who hear well seem not to have any notion of what it is like to be shut out of stuff, absolutely unnecessarily.  Listen to the basic Ricochet podcasts- Law Talk, GLOP, Flagship; they are posted at a volume that can be adjusted to serve normal hearing people as well as those with a challenge (my lifelong moderate level of nerve deafness is characterized as “moderate”, and I can stand and talk with you and be just fine, but I will miss most of the words said in a conference room with 8 people in the meeting).  Natl Rev podcasts are generally recorded at a useful level, most Hoover podcasts are clearly intended only for “normal” people and not those over 65 who have lost some comprehension, because they are recorded at a level that can’t be heard on most playback devices without adding another in-line amplifier.   Many of Hoover’s podcasts are noticeably soft.

The dumb thing is that it is all unnecessary- the audio level can be set, or increased at the time of production.  After posting, the prospective listener needs to be so eager that he will D/L and then run the file through Audacity’s amplifier utility.  Most of the time, the content is not worth that much fuss.

Thanks for letting me know. I don’t have any role in production (and do not, for the sake of my sanity, listen to any shows I’m on). Bring to Yeti’s attention and he can see what we can do in the future.

Also, my wife is very curious about where one can find this technology that renders me ‘virtually inaudible.’

Huh. No idea how that happened. Was fine when it left here. Will take a look and re-upload a LOUDER version shortly.
