Finally, America’s most beloved podcasting couple have returned to the interwebs (they have a good reason for taking time off as you’ll hear, but still…). This week, Mark and Mollie discuss the endless car wreck that is ObamaCare, TV series you’re not watching but should be, debate who the king of late night is, and of course, The Fight of The Week® (as requested, now enhanced with theme music — you’re welcome, Mark).

Terriers is a great show. Michael Raymond James deserves more work.

Two others I will mention that aren’t well known but critics praise.

Bunheads is a dramedy on ABC Family about ballet dancers old and young, it’s the opposite of mean spirited.

Orphan Black is a mystery conspiracy thriller on BBC America about an unsympathetic female grifter who witnesses the suicide of a woman that looks identical to herself. She decides to steal the woman’s identity and things get crazy in short order.

I already knew that Donal Logue was great, but MR-J was a revelation. I’m glad he is getting more work, but I’d like it to be less of the vampire type stuff and more of the drama stuff.

Enjoyed the podcast, then sat down for a few eps of Portlandia.

Just watched the pilot of Terriers. Pretty good. Thanks for the tip. Portlandia is classic, of course.

Hate to be repetitive …watched Terriers.. liked it. Thanks for the fun podcast….one point, a dog was central in the pilot.

Schoolmarm: You turned me on to Foyle’s War, Mollie, so you’ve got cred with me. I’ll check out Terriers. I sure hope you don’t blow it. ;)

I’ll return the favor: Have you watched Call the Midwife? · 8 hours ago

Heh. Terriers is *quite* different from Foyle’s War, but I hope you still like it.

As for Call the Midwife — I watched it while sick in June. Loved it. You have excellent taste.

I recall the ad campaign – inexplicably – had a huge picture of a dog. I read somewhere that the explanation for the name was that the main characters were scrappy, like terriers.

I’m convinced that the main reason that show failed was the dumb name that told you nothing about the show and horrible marketing. It took me a few years to finally decide to watch it, even though I had heard such great things about (there’s just so much great TV to catch up on).

It’s a shame because, IMHO, that one season is absolutely is up there with the best modern TV. I was glad to hear Mark mention Justified, which I’m currently watching (almost done with season 2). I enjoy Justified, but it took some time to get going. Terriers was riveting and just plain fun right out of the gate; even better than the first seasons of some now legendary shows (including Breaking Bad).

    Oh well.

Speaking of FX and dogs, any Wilfred fans here?

I finally had an opportunity to watch the series pilot for Terriers. Wonderful show and one I never would have considered without your recommendation. Thank you very much. I was in need of new series to watch.
