Fantastic podcast! I imagine Glenn knows of (probably even knew) the late great Albert Murray, who also felt part of America, despite its human flaws. They seem to have similar sensibilities. I remember Murray telling Bryan Lamb on C-Span that he disagreed with most black critics that whites shouldn’t play the blues. In fact, he went on to say that he could envision many a white woman living in the suburbs feeling the blues, noting that the point of playing the blues is not to wallow in but to get out of them. Ha! I thought. This is someone who gets it. All of it.
