It was interesting to hear your conversation about antisemitsm.

When you were discussing the difference between antisemitism and antizionism,  it is a common differentiation made but in fact antizionism is the new socially acceptable  form of Jew hatred.  Your observation, that often antizionism morphs into blatant jew hatred,  is just one indication of this old hatred in a new package.

Just to clarify, antizionism is not being critical of Israel’s policies.  It is the delegitimization of the state of Israel and her right to exist.  It is only Israel, out of 200 countries on the planet,  whose right to exist is questioned and her destruction is openly called for.  This rhetoric is rarely criticized actually pretty mainstream today. A prime example is the BDS movement.

Why is this one tiny country, the only Jewish nation, with a robust democracy, whose citizens are a diversity of religions and cultures with equal rights, and is subjected to rabid antisemitic rhetoric, constant terrorist attacks and threats of total annihilation, it’s people and government are constantly under a  microscope and accused of being amongst the worst  human right abusers on the planet?  The amount of focus on this conflict by human rights groups ( no matter how irrelevant it is to their cause), college campus students and faculty, NGOs and government groups defies logic.  The hypocrisy that there are so many other countries with truly horrific human rights abuses that are not given even a fraction of the attention or outrage by these groups.  And outrage is the defining word.  It is not about reason but about passion and a faulty thought process.

It is a Double standard.  It is Delegitimization.  It is Demonization.  The three Ds of antisemitism masquerading as antizionism as explained by Natan Sharansky.   So criticism of  Israel and her policies is fine  but if the  criticism is not put in the context of the rest of the world,  it may be wittingly or unwittingly espousing Jew hatred which should not be acceptable in any form.
