Steven Koonin, who was Undersecretary for Science in the Obama Department of Energy, is perhaps the most distinguished scientific critic of the global warming “consensus” today.

Note that Koonin isn’t saying that global warming isn’t happening.

Instead, as I understand it, his point is that, as so many times before, the scientific community is overestimating the strength of its theories and, worse, suppressing dissenting voices.

Glenn should have John McWhorter listen to this.  John is caught up in global warming catastrophism because it is apparently necessary in order to for him to remain in The Club as a member in good standing at the same time as he challenges woke racism.

No, Koonin is definitely a very good critic because of his bona fides resume as a former Obama official, but the most distinguished critics of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW) are Richard Lindzen and Judith Curry.  Dr. Curry was an IPCC participant  for 15 years before the East Anglia e-mails scandal, and she is also a more experienced climate modeler than Dr Koonin.  She particularly notes the issue of utter model chaos when the tropical troposphere meets the oceans, explaining why the modeling problem is even worse than Dr. Koonin and Freeman Dyson pointed out.  And, of course, Dr. Lindzen has worked the water vapor problem and its probable negative feedback status (as opposed to 6X positive “reinforcing” feedback)  for a couple of decades.

Lindzen and Curry are great!   Let’s just say that Koonin is the most distinguished scientific critic of the global warming “consensus” to have written a book on the subject.
