The GOP suffered some big losses on election day this year in NY, New Jersey, and Virginia. What does it mean and what implications does it have for 2018? Jay and new cohost Amy Otto talked with National Review’s Kevin Williamson about that subject, the GOP tax plan, and the revelations about GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore.

Please check these numbers and explain why Tuesday was a “big loss” for the GOP?

    Virginia
    Northam 53.9% 1,405,369
    Gillespie 45.0% 1,173,335
    VS
    Hillary 49.73% 1,981,473
    Trump 44.41% 1,769,443

    New Jersey
    Murphy 55.5% 1,138,045
    Guadagno 42.5% 870,998
    VS
    Hillary 55.45% 2,148,278
    Trump 41.35% 1,601,933

Why were you expecting a Republican to win in a couple of Blue States? And New York? Really? It sounds to me like it was your expectations that took the “big loss” – the rest of us sort of expected this result.

They also voted for the first ever transgender state delegate and one that is an avowed Marxist. In short they were so angry about Trump, they voted for anyone with a “D” after their name. They also came out in droves in Virginia on a cold, wet and miserable day. Kevin Williamson explained that in the podcast.

Yes, it was all the unusual and unexpected down-ballot losses, and not just in Virginia. That’s a wave.
