The AM Radio Caucus and AOC

Trump considers a border emergency, AM Radio keeps calling the shots in the White House, and Democrats are wondering how to control Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D–Twitter). The intro/outro song is “Fake Palindromes” by Andrew Bird. Jon’s song of the week is “Swebeach” by Westkust, and Stephen’s song of the week is “Cheer Up Charley” by The Delines. “AM Radio keeps calling the shots”

Hmm, should I listen to episode?

You seem to say that like that’s a really, really bad thing. Weird.

Who has a bigger base in the Republican Party? AM radio listeners or a combined coalition Bush family loyalist Trump haters and government works living in DC? Yeah, Trump only received 4% of the vote in DC, but Bush in 1988 was the last Republican to crack 10% and Nixon before impeachment was the only one to crack 20%.

“AM Radio keeps calling the shots”

Rush Limbaugh worked on Christmas Eve 2018 while his studio was in the process of being torn up and updated during the break to explain that this is NOT what happened.

Who else decides to work on Christmas Eve?

CNN is just made up of a bunch of clueless liars.

13:40 minute mark, although the portion before that is interesting too.

You have a photo of Mark Levin above. I know that he says the one of the #1 jobs of conservatism is ALWAYS to keep explaining and educating the situation to the public. The two Bush presidents seemed incapable for explaining conservatism to the public. Donald Rumsfeld seemed to be the only one willing to fight back during the George W. Bush administration, and that was regarding military matters. I don’t even remember who fought back during George H. W. Bush administration. William Bennett? John Sununu? Jack Kemp?

you should always listen to these guys. It didn’t seem that negative to me. But Jon and Stephen are mostly negative about things, so it is hard to tell if a statement is neutral or negative.

All I know is that I turn them off when they start talking about music. Do any conservatives have good taste in music or are they all annoyingly juvenile in this department?

LOL…Jay Nordlinger wins for Conservatism’s best musical taste, probably, because he is the music critic of THE NEW CRITERION (although Jay seems currently very much at political odds with that magazine’s head, Roger Kimball). Most of these Ricochet podcasts have dreadful introductory music, IMO

I actually appreciate that there’s a wide array of music fans on the center-right (I like the Political Beats podcast and Nordlinger opining on opera)

that said Stephen and Jon are our Dick and Barry from High Fidelity. I’m afraid of asking if they have Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You” :)

bonus points if Stephen ever videotapes himself dancing to “Walking on Sunshine” like MarxBae

Left TV off and listened to my CDs. Started with Handel’s Messiah, Then CD player cycled next to Abba’s Greatest Hits, followed by Mozart’s Requiem then on to New World Symphony, and concluded with the soundtrack to Pride and Prejudice. Needless to say, I can find something to like throughout ricochet.com podcasts. I guess I will change them out with Beethoven’s Ninth, Jethro Tull’s Aqualung, Mozart’s 40th, Soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar, A little Bach, and then soundtrack to Mary Poppins (original). Of course, I will listen to my music when I am not listening to our podcasts.

The eminent domain issue Stephen mentioned could have been copied from the same conversation I had with my mom over Christmas. Literally, “I don’t care, take the property and build it.”
