After a two-week break, Jon and Stephen catch up with the news cycle by spinning the Wheel of Crazy. Topics include Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, media comparing the Helsinki summit to Pearl Harbor, and the death of comedy.

The intro/outro song is “Stick” by Ovlov. Stephen’s song of the week is “Canary Yellow” by Deafheaven and Jon’s is “The Last Great Washington State” by Damien Jurado. To listen to all the music featured on The Conservatarians, subscribe to our Spotify playlist!

Stephen has a habit of saying “literally” for things that are not literal. It drives me figuratively insane.

The wheel sound effect was great. For fun, watch Ocasio-Cortez on Palistine and Miss Teen USA on maps . They will forever be connected in your mind!

Comedy’s pretty much dead if the only people you can make fun of is white straight males, white Christians, and white conservatives.

But we’re through the looking glass of the early to late 90s comedy scene when I was heavily involved in standup and gay comics were claiming because they made dirty sex jokes they were “un-pc” when they were pc’s wet dream.

But then again, doing an even lesser regarded form of comedy where we teach performers to use it as anti-authority, it comes as a surprise to many that I think given their control of the levers of culture, they’re “the man”

One of the lessons I teach is play what you hate. You’d be surprised at the number of people who think I’m woke and didn’t realize I was making fun of them.

Jon, in my experience, you are the only person in American media who knows that the correct pronunciation of Helsinki is to put the accent on the first syllable.
