I’m sure we could find a few more ways in helping the Ayatollahs on their way to a trip and a long fall.

Good analysis. I agree that the mullahs really don’t have anywhere to go so they will kill like crazy to maintain their power and lives. I also think that 40 years may be the time limit if the people can sustain their revolt. I truly hope for the majority of Iranians that the mullahs fall.

If the mullahs can buy the loyalty of the army, what can the people do?

We saw the same thing in Venezuela.

One of the differences I see is the time. 40 years makes one a lot more willing to fight than the 10 or so with Venezuela. As I say, I hope rather than guarantee the outcome. On both of these though, definitely an object lesson in not giving up your right to bear arms.

They can become ungovernable and stop paying taxes. The mullahs need to have something to buy the army with.

In “The Last Article”, Harry Turtledove imagines what it would have been like if the Nazis had occupied India during World War II.

Gandhi tries the nonviolent methods he used on the British, sending railroad engineers out on strike.

The Nazis drag every tenth striker into the street and blow his brains out.

The rest go back to work.

Yes, that’s something I’ve said for decades. Ghandi and others like him don’t stand a chance unless the “oppression” they’re “struggling against” is pretty civilized already.
