I think this sums up Vic’s performance this week:

That’s a really fun anecdote that both Sonny and JVL have been in productions of Wizard of Oz. It fits, too.

Sonny is the Tin Man – cold, heartless, and sometimes a little stiff

JVL is the Scarecrow – full of vegetable matter, sometimes behaves like a straw man

And rounding out the trio, that would make Victorino…the Wizard, right? An older guy with a large head trying to keep you from looking at what he’s up to behind that curtain?

None of the guys could remember who played in A Star Is Born prior to Barbra Streisand?

Purely by chance, the stars aligned for the women in the new Ghostbusters to be the daughters of the original crew of eccentrics; that is to say, they were about the right age. This would immediately have provided the producers with plenty of character material, a wealth of neuroses.

Then again, not even the original cast was able to save Ghostbusters 2

On that note: I picked up cheap a Blu-ray edition of Gb 1&2, complete with a souvenir booklet. It also includes a tipped-in note from the late director Ivan Reitman, begging fans to give Ghostbusters 2 a second chance.

     Maybe I will, someday.
