I don’t know about Hollywood, but the podcast was in chaos, early on.

We could hear them but they couldn’t hear each other.

They should have edited it out.

Also, if Sonny asks “can you hear me?” why are there people answering “no”?

Reminds me of suspects/criminals captured by police, saying – sometimes yelling – “I can’t breathe!”

If you can say “I can’t breathe,” then you can breathe.

@jameslileks sometimes notes that, when seeing people buying lots of eggs, milk, bread, and toilet paper, in advance of a major storm or whatever; he wonders if they’re expecting a weekend of French Toast and dysentery.

One problem with Andromeda Strain, I think both in the novel and the movie, is that Andromeda was found to only “function” within a narrow range of blood pH.  And while human blood pH is normally within that range, that of animals such as the mice and monkeys used for testing in the story, is not.  So Andromeda would not have killed the mice and monkeys used for testing.  I’m a little surprised that Crichton would have made such a mistake, but maybe he didn’t figure there would be something like the Internet making it possible for regular people to find out.

So the protagonist is being deployed overseas and falls in love with a stripper?  This sounds like a composite character of Joe Biden’s sons.

Another old favorite of mine is Warning Sign, starring Sam Waterston and Kathleen Quinlan.

I’ve got news that will move you and shake you…

Not only was Rene Russo 20 years younger than Dustin Hoffman when they made Outbreak…

    SHE STILL IS!!!

Amazing how that works, isn’t it?

    Old joke

When my dad was 30 and I was 10, I was 1/3 his age.

when my dad was 40 and I was 20 I was half his age.

when my dad was 60 and I was 40 is was 2/3s his age

I appear to be catching up!
