I am completely with Vic on this one. Didn’t care much for Brie but loved Goose. Sonny takes a very light movie about comic books way too seriously. It was fun and entertaining and I thought didn’t push the feminism stuff too much. After all she was just a girl who had a tough time trying to keep up with the boys until she was gifted with super powers. She did look athletic. More so than Gadot who just has more curves.
I think the dudes have reached the limit of how interesting discussion of old dishwashers is.
A few points:
JVL is on the masthead at The Bulwark. Consequently, I will not be listening to this podcast.
I want to be clear about my reason. It is not about opposition to President Trump. It is about opposition to debate. The Bulwark openly proclaims its goal to shame pro-Trump conservatives and drive them out of polite society.
I will begin listening again once they change their tactic.
One way to make the Ms Marvel character vulnerable would be to have a character whose power is to absorb others memories and powers through touch attack Ms Marvel. Something goes wrong and Ms Marvel’s powers are permanently absorbed. Now you have this great power in a person who can’t experience intimate contact with others and feels alone and unable to truly love.
The use of the rogue soldier description for Carol Danvers had to be deliberate. The adjective was apt, but had to be a wink to the fanboys.
I’d heard this too and was surprised that at least Sonny didn’t know it.
Well, JVL has always been the weakest link of this show.
I found the villains — Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Gemma Chan, etc. — more interesting than the good guys.
Wait a minute. The white chick beats up all the persons of color? Is this a covert white supremacy movie?
In truth, I can only rarely tell which one is speaking!
I read JVL’s article, about how there was nothing worth reporting at CPAC, because all the speakers were trash, so I sympathize. (He was trying to explain why the Bulwark’s correspondent at CPAC was a pro-abortion, anti-gun liberal.)
However, I listen to the Sub-Beacon for the movie talk, not politics.
Spot on. I never read JVL’s articles. I can ignore his bad political takes and enjoy the show. Win-win!
C’mere and I’ll pattern yer speech.

Then I never want to hear you complain about the Left’s cancel culture.
