For emotional impact the film exaggerates the destructive impact of removing 50% of the people.

We know that because the world has actually gone through episodes of similar mortality, like the Black Death in the 14th century.

For example, reducing the NYPD from 38,000 officers to merely 19,000 officers — to guard a population reduced from 8,000,000 to 4,000,000 — would hardly cause civilization to collapse.

To ramp up the emotional impact of the loss of 50% of the population, they should have showed some homeowners sadly looking at their Zillow reports, and comparing them to their mortgage statements…

Put me down as strongly pro-dudes-chattin’. And, sorry JVL, I love you, but I’m also strongly anti-Comic-Book-Guy.

I’d also like to go on the record as wanting to murder Captain Marvel with fire. She is truly the worst superhero ever. Ever.
