I never heard of Ronald Reagan saying he was at Pearl Harbor. I really kind of turned off after hearing this since I know it’s just not true. He may have told a story about some situation which he thought had happened but was actually in a movie but I don’t believe he ever said it happened to him. Why not bring up Hillary Clinton (under sniper fire) or Joe Biden (with his numerous things that didn’t happen to him including his wife and daughter being killed by a drunk driver). No let’s choose a Republican because everyone will believe that. I heard that Patrick Allitt beats his wife and drowns puppies. Prove I’m wrong.

This may be the worst interview I’ve heard on any Ricochet podcast, going back to when I joined in May 2017.

Allitt is shockingly ignorant about the topics he is discussing.

He admits upfront that he simply doesn’t know the traditions and rules about who gets to be called a Prince in the British royal family.   That Meghan Markle Windsor is ignorant, too, is no excuse.  Knowing he would be asked about it, Allitt should have spent a few minutes researching the topic.  But he didn’t.

Ronald Reagan never claimed that he was at Pearl Harbor. Allitt is actually wildly garbling a story relating to comments Reagan made about Nazi death camps, many years after the war.

Reagan described himself as one of the first to see the death camps, evidently referring to the raw footage he received as acting head of the Army’s motion picture division at the end of the war. (Years later, his sons report, when they turned 14 he would sit them down and show them some of this footage. But not his daughters!)  However, some liberals and progressives prefer to believe that Reagan was totally insane and delusional while he was in the White House, and imagined himself somehow getting from California to central Europe in 1945.

As for contemporary politics, Allitt is about as well informed as some of my stupider liberal relatives on Facebook.

Amen @Taras. Thanks for remembering this ‘incident’ with Reagan.
