I have a Black daughter-in-law and, so far, 2 bi-racial grandchildren. I loved your discussion about hair especially as I’ve already been informed (by d-i-l) that I’ll probably be spending a lot of time on my granddaughter’s hair. I can say, as a white woman, that I had no idea about the differences of black hair and have learned a lot. In fact, I have stop asking questions because I felt I was being too curious. Thanks for the interview with Ms. Davis and all the best to Antonia on the impending birth.
@colleenb
Thanks EJ. He is a cutie and a heck of a lot more HAIR than my grandson had at birth.
I think God was having a good laugh at the fact that I was complaining on the latest episode that people might want to touch my son’s hair. He said “Fine, Ill make it as close to white hair as possible then.” haha. Hoping curls come in soon!!
Both grandchildren have lots of curls but it’s taking awhile to get the lots of hair part. I do need to remember to ask son and daughter-in-law if anyone has touched their hair without asking. My guess is not since the grandchildren’s hair is not spectacular. Now my d-i-l has a black friend with a bi-racial daughter and her hair was massive and curly for awhile. That little girl might have gotten her hair touched in the way you spoke about. For what’s it worth the friend cut her hair way down saying that she couldn’t take care of daughter’s hair and her hair and ever get out the door in the morning. All the best to you and make sure you’re spending lots more time napping then social mediaing!
