On this GenXish episode, Teri and Fingers catch up on life in isolation (including Teri’s questionable new hobby) and delve into a discussion of the best sitcoms from the 1980s. Shelly Long or Kirstie Alley? Bea Arthur or Betty White? “227” or “Soap”?

Soap is from the 70s. Ran from Sep 1977-April 1981.

Yep, some of the shows we discuss either ran from the 70s into the 80s or the 80s into the 90s. Soap was off-limits for me as a kid, so I desperately wanted to watch it!

I think Cheers has to be the best sitcom of the 80s – perhaps of all time.

Wonder Years, Family Ties, Mork & Mindy, Night Court, are the sitcoms I remember watching back in the day.

It was such a great show. Are you Team Shelly Long or Team Kirstie Alley?

I think Kristie Alley, I disliked Shelly Long’s character – she struck me as a schoolmarm in search of a student… I used to wonder if she made Sam write lines and strike his knuckles with a ruler when he made a mistake…

Mork & Mindy was great because it was the break out show for Robin Williams. Without that show maybe there would be no Robin Williams. Family Ties had Micheal J Fox, Night Court launched Harry Anderson and Brent Spiner (best known as Data on Star Trek:TNG)…
