Teri, I hope Kira never leaves Smart Girl. She has a lot of common sense. I’m sure we don’t agree on everything, but I love her stories. She deserves a lot of credit, as do you, for homeschooling the children. I love that she didn’t tell the authorities where she moved. Those people in California are too Nanny-State. I swear they won’t be happy until they have a mini-Venezuela on their hands.
As Kira says, you can’t prevent every harm. Every effort to prevent a particular “harm” will have some other consequence somewhere else, many of which will be a harm of itself. Intrusion to sufficient to prevent this harm will cause authorities to tear apart families that shouldn’t be torn apart. Plus it would be very costly.
Why do we assume that government authorities will always act in everyone’s best interests?
Kira is a gem and we are lucky to have her on the show! I don’t know how she stands living in California, though.
Especially since there are many, many examples of the government failing its citizens!! Gah.
Yeah, I can’t imagine what would possess Kira to endure the insanity of the Golden state…
