This week the Smart Girls talk about the never-ending gun control debate, the insane and dangerous rage of the Left, and reality tv stars on dating shows who think don’t understand why their one-night-stand didn’t lead to a committed relationship.

I am stuck in the middle with you!

    Just a quick question:

If this guy slept with one girl on Thursday, and slept with the other girl on Friday … but went over to her hotel room on Friday – How could both encounters been in the same bed?

I have never been a viewer of these big brother/bachelor amazing race kind of gong shows. I thought it was demeaning for all these people to do these things just in the pursuit of fame.

Wow, good catch! It logically could not have been the same bed. It’s still gross. I don’t think you and I are missing a thing in not watching these shows. I fully admit I have my own “mental junk food” for down time, so I don’t judge.

I am not claiming TV viewing habit superiority by any stretch, I have a heightened sensitivity to embarrassment. I cant watch a lot of shows that humiliate characters too much… For example “Dumb and Dumber” I have never been able to watch any of these movies. Or ST:NG episode “Hollow Pursuits” that introduced LT Barclay. I watch plenty of scripted tv series like “Siren” “Instinct” “Killing Eve” “The Rookie” “Pearson” “In the Dark”… Mostly crime dramas.

I have never gotten into the ‘reality’ series generally although I do have my ‘junk food’ television. Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, Justified and the Americans (both of the latter are too violent but I just couldn’t get enough for various reasons). On the other hand the whole premise of Breaking Bad or the Sopranos just never interested me no matter how great the reviews. Ditto with Game of Thrones which is chock a block full of great British actors but the semi-porn, etc just seems too out. I figure I will probably be a better person for having missed a lot of movies and tv shows as I watch too much stuff anyway.

I could never get into Game of Thrones either… It just wasnt for me. I watched until the kid fell off the wall, and I was done with it. Breaking Bad I was a late convert too… Go back to the start of the series, and watch Walter White evolve, from his early shock and horror as a drug dealer kills one of his henchmen in front of them… to his later plotting the murders of his own henchmen who have been arrested…The more Walter White embraced his inner gangster them more I liked the series. Breaking Bad is still on netflix and is worth watching – because all of the characters evolve, not just Walter. Its a great series.

    Thanks for the recommendation @occupantcdn.

This is my vote for the best scene from “Breaking Bad”:

“I am the Danger … I am the one who knocks”
