Live from CPAC

April and Teri are together in National Harbor, MD to bring you a taste of CPAC 2018, from reaction to Trump’s speech to all the talk about guns to the fashions of the conservative “fringe.” Also, what’s the deal with that Canadian hockey player who removed her medal?

Canadians feel about hockey, roughly the same way American’s fell about Basketball.

Just hand out the gold medal at the opening ceremony and y’all can play for silver… So she very much expected to win gold, I dont think she meant disrespect or poor sportsmanship, she was disappointed – monumentally so.

April sounds so much more lively here. Don’t know why, she sounds “low energy” on other episodes.

Yeah I understood why she took the medal off and I didn’t read anything into it. The United States teams felt the same way when they got the silver. They didn’t “win the silver” they “lost the gold”,,,over time she’ll appreciate it more, but at that moment, it feels like mockery.

Silver is the least popular of the three medals.

I can think of four reasons there are few members of Congress at CPAC.

    1. Congress is not in session this week. Most members are away from Washington
    2. The venue is no longer in downtown DC. It’s out in the suburbs. Congressmen cannot just “pop” in.
    3. For members up for reelection in marginal districts, the President is an albatross around their necks. They don’t want to be associated with him.
    4. Even worse than Trump is Marion Le Pen. She can plausibly be called a fascist. Congressmen don’t want to be known as associating with fascists.
