The Girls are Back in Town

Kira, April, and Teri are back together for an end-of-year episode! They work their way out of the post-Christmas/pre-New Year’s fog to discuss some stories from 2017 that didn’t get the coverage they deserved — including the #MeToo movement. (But not in the way you might think!) Also, Kira explains Kwanzaa and the ladies celebrate surviving a year of Trump.

    Hi, Teri!

It was nice to hear you again.

I enjoyed this Podcast. Kira was delightful, in, among other things, talking about Kwanzaa. It is really sad that some people go for this made-up holiday. The only thing it does is to divide us even more.

One thing that I disagree with you about is this: I sensed that you have something against Nikki Haley. I admit that I am a big fan, so I did not understand your saying that she wasn’t popular in South Carolina. You then admitted that she won reelection. Well, doesn’t that go against what you first said? If a politician is not popular, why would he or she be reelected?

Aside from that, Teri, I always enjoy listening, even when we disagree. You have such a pleasant personality, and are so perky. I wish you the best for the New Year. Take care.

    …George Townsend

She was a tea party candidate and I remember some polling from her time as governor that showed she wasn’t exactly the most reform-minded of governors. That said, she is kicking butt at the UN! I am a big fan.

Do you think she has her eye on a presidential run?

Why are you good conservative ladies collaborating with evil; i.e., buying from Amazon?

Interesting question. I’ve heard it said that every Senator sees a President when he or she looks in the mirror! Perhaps it is true for everyone in Washington. Anyway, I hope so. I am a big fan too, as I said. As someone on your show said (I apologize if it was you; I can’t remember; old age, I guess!), you can’t run two people from the same state. I think you can, actually, but the electoral votes wouldn’t be counted. I may be wrong. Frankly, we have a lot of good people. I always liked Rubio. The trouble there is which side of the ticket would either run on. Maybe Joni Ernst could make it an all-female ticket. Interesting thoughts, don’t ya think?

I love Amazon. They give great service. Stop throwing around the word “evil”! We are talking about shopping, not winning a war!

I remember when I was still at Virginia we brought in the inventor of Kwanzaa to speak at our residential college right before winter break. This is 1994 so it was seen as a celebration of multiculturalism and he was lauded with high praise by most in the room.

I unfortunately have a bad poker face, he singled me out after the talk as I appeared skeptical of what he was saying.

“I think you’re full of it, but God loves you and Merry Christmas anyway” and we both shared a bit of a knowing smirk.

I actually did less Amazon shopping this year and bought more from sites like Etsy. And, truthfully, I tend to use sites that give me an Ebates rebate, which Amazon doesn’t do.

Podcast tip: Don’t say “Alexa.” Everyone’s Echo activates when you do.

I just listened to the first two “Gen X Men” podcasts, and boy do we ever need some balance to those whiners.

I love Amazon. They give great service. Stop throwing around the word “evil”! We are talking about shopping, not winning a war!

Amazon used its deep pockets to undersell a smaller competitor at a loss, until the competitor was forced to sell out to them; and then Amazon raised its prices again.

I don’t remember the name of the company, but their website was Diapers.com.

I might add, this kind of monopolistic behavior is rare in the real world.

I didn’t know this. Thanks for the info. I am very disappointed. But I’ve always had good service with Amazon.
