Louis CK is either very lucky, or paid a great deal of money, to stay out of prison. Maybe he’s back to work because he needs to be.
I think he should probably have gone to prison, so weather or not he should be back doing stand up, so soon seems like the lamest punishment ever. I am not for cruel and unusual punishment, but I believe in rehabilitation through effective punishment.

Oh, I was thinking about the next president being a democrat (weather in 2020 or 2024) I wonder if that’s going to be the case. This past week, the DNC clipped the “super delegates” wings. Without “Super Delegates” to moderate the democrat extremest primary voters – they’ll be nominated candidates that would make McGovern look good. If the democrats self destruct in such a manner – that they begin nominating candidates that have 0% chance outside of coastal cities. There could be a long line of republican presidents.

Hollywood is under no pretense to let him do projects until he’s shown some rehabilitation or taken plenty of time away if at all.
Comedy is full of creeps, weirdos, people who can’t interact properly with people, plenty of people who use their positions for sex (Improv theaters also have a huge problem re: teachers/performers and students).
Some of us get better at life (I’m still haunted by how I blew up friendships for a moment of anger). Others get famous.
Oh and congrats on the open mic. I did standup for a number of years and after a long sabbatical did my first open mic for the first time in forever in L.A….everything about them are still the same.
I personally love the time I’m on stage, it’s everything else that annoys me from continuing.
Somebody is going to have to explain the Louis CK thing to me. He took women back to his hotel / motel room after work and ask them if it was ok for him to pleasure himself in front of them. It seems this was a known kink about the man. So at what point did he do so wrong? Are these not grown women that can leave or say no? Did he threaten or retaliate against them? Do the women not have some agency in this matter?

What repercussions? Who was blacklisted? Closest I see to cover up is somebody asked one of the ladies to stop talk about it. What power did he have? He is a bloody comedian. Or is the premise that people with weird kinks can’t ask anybody for sex? So do we have a world where women are equals with free agency or are the little delicate plants that need to be protected. Because it seems we want both standards which is confusing.
He was also a producer on 4 different shows and had deals with FX, HBO and Netflix. His show was a hit on FX, which was really the most popular cable network at the time. He was 3 Arts’ prestige client along wiht Mike Judge in terms of comedy development, and 3 Arts is kind of the heir to Brillstein-Grey in the mid-90s for comedy development. If you understand how a lot of casting and hiring goes, agencies like to do all that stuff inhouse as package deals. Dana and Julia were more or less fine career wise because they had Adam Sandler’s backing (which is how they got Aspen). There were other things at play in regards to Abby affixing her name to the story regarding her personal life.
The deal isn’t that the women here are delicate flowers or Louis CK is a stand up. Louis CK had a lot of heft in comedy as a behind the scenes guy too. If he said “hey, I had an issue with this woman once (being vague to put the blame on her), maybe we shouldn’t put her on staff of this show” and his agent/manager in this powerful agency would say “yeah, we worked with her once, and it wasn’t good” etc. On the record people say “stop talking about it”…off the record, emails are sent around, etc to make sure it doesn’t become a problem
You’re exactly right that there isn’t a smoking gun, but it’s also impossible to know if things were said, implied, etc. that may have hurt anyone who knew.
