Bannon’s Been a Bad Boy

It’s 2018! For their first podcast of the new year, the ladies are discussing the hell of New Year’s Eve in Times Square, how damn cold it is outside, how awful this weekend’s Golden Globes are likely to be, and the importance of facial yoga. Also, Kira explains Steve Bannon and Teri suggests a Smart Girl fitness challenge – who’s in?

Teri, I have one bit of advice for Steve Bannon: Crawl back into the hole you crawled out of.

Regarding Hillary: Yes, she endangered National Security with her server. And, yes, she deserves to be prosecuted for it, the same as anyone else would be, and has been. However… My main priority is what’s good for the country. And I don’t think a prosecution would be good for the country. It would take sooo long; much of the media would be on her side, and cover it that way; it would only anger those who voted for her (and she did win the majority), and they would take it out on all Republicans; and, at a time when there is so much tumult overseas, it would take the eyes of the country off what is really important: Securing the peace, as best we can.

The way I see it is that we must never let our emotions get in the way of doing what’s right.

I never understood the appeal of Bannon but then again I don’t understand the appeal of Trump either. As for Hillary, I would very much like to see her and Bill pay for their shameless behavior. Way too many “donations” that coincided with a speaking fee for Bill and access to the Secretary of State. Also all that money raised for Haiti and so little benefit for the people while the Clinton’s went from “broke” to having hundreds of millions. It all stinks to high heaven. However, I have very little faith in Sessions actually getting anywhere. The Clintons always seem to skate free.

Agree 100%. I just don’t see the Clintons ever facing criminal charges.

It’s not correct that she won the majority.

Hillary won 48.02% of the votes cast in 2016, which is a plurality. The entirety of her popular vote edge came from California, where she blew past even Obama’s best margin. In the subtotal tally without California, Trump won the popular vote by 1.4 million votes. HRC won California by 4.27 million. Meanwhile, the votes for third parties and independents were the highest since…Bill Clinton’s last election in 1996.

I bring this up only because neither Hillary nor Bill ever won a majority of votes cast – Bill came closest in 1996 with 49.23% of all votes cast, but in 1992 he pulled in only 43%. During the 1990s it was cold comfort, but we made do with what we were given. They persuaded a plurality of the country to vote for them, but never a majority.

This is entirely true, and it is my fault for not being clearer. I was just stating the reasons that prosecuting her would be a bad idea. I should have written “plurality” instead of “majority”. And, yes, I know all about California. This was not a comment about the election.
