I don’t usually listen to podcasts. I don’t have the time, but I did listen to this and enjoyed it. You guys are spot on. Your husband still believes in Kavanaugh’s accuser? I may have considered the possibility at the very beginning, but it clearly had no substantiation, none. She was either delusional or lying. Sounds like you’re more conservative than he is. I trust your intuition better.

As to that smile, whatever happened to not judging a book by its cover?

    Good talk.

I would disagree with Seth on Brent Kavanaugh, I think there is a near 0% chance he did anything to Christine Ford.

First of all she’s not telling the truth * about the home remodel that she claims triggered her memories in 2012. They added a second front door to the home for her home office… Which is untrue. Building permits with the city show the house was last remodeled in 2008, and photos of the house from 2011 also show the second front door. It just seems that more unlikely that a story that starts outside the truth will end with the truth.

    • I want to give her the benefit of some doubt on the issue of these untruthful statements – I dont want to call her a lair when she could just be mistaken about dates – although you’d think that a lawyer with a half a wit would have warned her to refresh her memory with documentation so that she doesnt get caught in a perjury trap.

The story about the front door is from this website:

Great podcast this week, and I also appreciate the update regarding Helen Andrews (née Rittelmeyer). I’d wondered what became of her.

Is The Shame Mob Coming For You?

There are coming for all conservatives. If we did not exist, they would target the most conservative and independent-thinking non-Republican types. In fact, they have already done this many times. Often these people think they are protected as they support many Leftish political issues and only discover that they have just become the mainstream media’s new 15-minute Hitler.

It’s the Warhol-Godwin Axiom: in the future, everyone will be Hitler for fifteen minutes.

LOL, I’ve never heard that before. I can see it.

I highly recommend Helen Andrew’s article in First Things (January issue although it might be December – I am always catching up with First Things) about her experience. And that was a number of years ago! The gentlemen from Covington Catholic have done the right thing in getting lawyers and their story out as much as possible. I do thing it may be time to revisit Sullivan v. New York Times or the law on libel generally. Enjoyable podcast as always.

There is no reason to believe Ford about Kavanaugh in my opinion. There is every reason to believe that Democrats used her to try and get Kavanaugh. Thank God they were unsuccessful.

I didn’t see it but heard that the older man beating the drum gave an interview where he lied repeatedly. When are these so-called journalists going to admit that and look into his background?

I think the kids were acting like badly supervised teenagers. I’d like to think that neither of my sons would have smirked at the older man the way the one young guy did even if provoked as he was. It isn’t even a question of masculinity, toxic or otherwise for me. It is a question of appropriate behavior towards a senior person. The stupid school fight song should have ceased (they shouldn’t have been doing it in the first place) and the kids should have been moved away. But I’m probably old fashioned. I didn’t like seeing the Parkland students pontificating and lecturing. 16 year old’s don’t have much of value to impart on public policy.

Everyone behaved badly. The kids, their supervisors, the old man and the protestors and most especially the media.

I read it yesterday. It was excellent. Bethany mentioned it on her podcast and that got me searching. It’s not hard to find.

This is where I’m at. I think the rest of punditry need to get on board that they too are Hitler no matter their “intellectual consistency”

Maisie Hirono said Ben Sasse is pushing alt-right thinking. Ben Sasse thinks Opie Taylor is edgy.

And thus, in the 2020 campaign, all hints of right wing thought will be alt-right, and can’t we find a savior, and Bill Kristol will back a liberal republican like Kasich to enter third party to help win a battleground state for the Democrats to forgive us of our sins

but don’t worry, in 4 years “we can win again” provided we’ve fought hard against our re-education :)

Until we start “shaming the shamers“, this will continue.

Aside from maybe Brian Stelter, Seth & Beth left the journalistic miscreants anonymous.

If biased, irresponsible journalism brings you millions of clicks, and has no downside, it will continue to be the rule, not the exception.

Seth’s “human sacrifice” comparison was poignant and not an exaggeration at all, in my opinion.

This whole situation reminds me of the Cultural Revolution in China. (the youth in universities screaming at their professors, public humiliation of targets etc) Eventually the mob gets off its leash and starts attacking its leaders. When that happens the twitter troll celebrities and media will stop trying to co-opt twitter.

Its not twitter that is elevating these flame wars into national debates – its the media – if the media can be ‘persuaded’ to apply the Vegas rule to twitter. Then everything would be fine. (You know the Vegas rule – what happens there stays there)
