Welcome to Season 5 of ‘The Right Idea Podcast.’  The theme for this season is Agriculture in Wisconsin. Wisconsin is home to nearly 65,000 farms and leads the nation in total cheese production, goat milk production, cranberry production, and MORE!  This is why it is so important for policymakers to remain in close touch with the agriculture industry in order to create sensible and sustainable agriculture policies.

In this first episode of Season 5, we feature an interview with Kevin Hoyer of the Hoyer Farm in West Salem, Wisconsin.  Kevin and his wife are third generation family farmers and due to technological advances, Kevin and his wife have been able to work both the farm and hold outside professions – Kevin is an agronomist, and his wife is a quality supervisor at a milk plant in Sparta, Wisconsin. Today’s discussion is an important one – as our country’s food security has a big impact on our country’s national security.  We hope you enjoy today’s episode!

Host: Kevin Nicholson, President & CEO of No Better Friend Corp.
Speakers: Kevin Hoyer of Hoyer Farms in West Salem, Wisconsin
Producers: Darryl Carlson, Executive Director & Courtney Mullen, Communications Director

Absolutely fascinating. I plan to listen to the whole series. I was born on an Upper Midwestern farm a LONG time ago, and to hear how technology has improved both productivity and a cleaner environment was so interesting. This podcast was a welcome change from the usual maddening, depressing podcasts about politics and “culture.”
