Perhaps you’re failing to vibe with Bin Laden and feeling a bit behind the times. Then again, you could be a sane person with a moral compass. James, Charles and Steve cover this and more with Noah Rothman, author of The Rise of the New Puritans: Fighting Back Against Progressives’ War on Fun. Aside from his anti-Osama stance, Noah takes us through the relevant considerations about America’s interests abroad, the nearly abandoned project to promote democracy and the modern world’s Western neurotic, who’s always clamoring for a club to beat their own civilization with.
The hosts also think through anti-Israel influencers on the right — edgelords or something sinister? — and worry that the U.S. is picking a most inopportune time to be frivolous.

Putting gay in front of communism makes it its own thing. Just like liberal democracy has a completely different meaning than unqualified democracy.
And it’s more festive.
Well you are likely to get him if Trump is nominated.
Shrill? You are a real charmer aren’t you? Just stating the facts. Sorry you don’t like them.
Dismissive is what finally sold me on your program, I confess. Please send me a brochure.
“Social Justice”
@OwnedByDogs — No, you’re not “stating the facts”, you’re just making a prediction. Treating predictions as facts is a fallacy I run into quite often, in political discussions.
My counter prediction would be that the more moderate pro-lifers, Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, are now more electable than Ron DeSantis. A six-week ban seems unreasonable to the vast majority of Americans.
Polls are now showing pretty consistently that Nikki Haley has a larger winning margin over Joe Biden than Donald Trump. She blows up the Democrats’ favorite argument, that Republicans are misogynistic white supremacists!
A Trump-Haley ticket would be pretty strong. To head off that threat, the liberal media are constantly egging her on to attack Trump.
The left never seems to have much trouble claiming that black conservatives aren’t really black, that conservative women aren’t really women…
America’s border problems are the sniffles. Ukraine is suffering from a potentially fatal case of AIDS.
Of course, anyone who thinks what’s going on in Ukraine right now is a “border dispute” has to explain why Finland, terrified, just gave up 70 years of neutrality to join NATO; and Sweden, about 200 years!
“Border dispute” is just the fig leaf that Russia uses to conceal its failure to capture Kyiv and install a puppet government. It’s like when they pretended they were never in the race to the Moon.
N.B.: I am a strong supporter of building a wall, but don’t expect it to do much about fentanyl. It’s too easy to hide it in the tens (hundreds?) of millions of tons of cargo that cross the border legally every year. (For that matter, a smuggler could just push it through the bars, or throw it over the top of the wall, to be picked up by a young kid on the American side.)
I remember, “the black face of white supremacy”! Of course, the people far gone enough to believe something like that were never going to vote Republican anyway. The rest of us just got a good laugh out of it.
Presumably the polls showing Biden and Trump to be the runaway favorites are polls that are only asking Democrats and Republicans (separately) who they want. The other polls are probably asking everyone including independents all at once what they think of Biden and Trump. So all of the Democrats and most of the independents are going to be anti-Trump and all of the Republicans and most of the independents are going to be anti-Biden.
There is no contradiction between dreaming of some kind of nonexistent ideal candidate, and choosing to vote for an existing but not ideal candidate — a lesser of two, three, four evils, as it were.
