The Politics of Moore

This week, it’s the sexiest Ricochet Podcast in memory as we parse the continuing harassment revelations, and the troubling and bizarre saga of Judge Roy Moore. But before we get to that, former New York Congressman Chris Gibson stops by to talk about his book Rally Point: Five Tasks to Unite the Country and Revitalize the American Dream and his views on uniting the country and revitalizing the American dream. Then, newly minted Ricochet podcaster Erick Erickson stops by to give his boots-on-ground (he’s based in Atlanta) view on Roy Moore and talk about his heartbreaking and inspirational new book Before You Wake: Life Lessons from a Father to His Children.

Music from this week’s show: Don’t Stand So Close To Me by The Police

    …governing…

Really, this whole post just means Woodrow Wilson et. al. never should have messed with the Founder’s system so  much and Mises.org is right about everything.

The problem is, our centralized inflationist system turned into pure theft and graft after the USSR fell, NAFTA, China opening up and so forth. Central banks pushing everything around makes crime pay and honest productivity not pay. You have to be stupid to try not to live off of government graft somehow.

Keynesianism, Critical Theory, the Frankfurt School etc. are freight train that takes certain things to derail it. The government is ineluctably running out of money and the economy is regressive and slowing down for actual reasons. Ben Sasse isn’t going to lead us out of this mess.

Reps. Jason Lewis, Steve Scalise and Tom Emmer are trying to overhaul the financial system, which is ground zero.

Honest and smart Democrats are just about more graft and dependency than the GOP is.

Trump is a tool to slow down Critical Theory etc.  and the media. The GOP needs to use him to slow down socialism.

    ONE EDIT

I have a feeling that a lot of the answers are in here.

I care far more how they vote and explain policy than about who they are and their “moral leadership” whatever that is supposed to mean.

Just to be clear, this is what I think the priority should be.

People want socialism, fascism, and opioids for good reason. The question is, how do you get out of this mess?

Did anyone really think things would turn out otherwise—that the massive kinship dislocations of the past 60 years wouldn’t produce increasingly visible, transformative effects not only in individual lives and households, but on politics and culture, too?

The Life Of Julia…will run out of GDP to pay for it.

I was going to post this separately but I might as well put it here: Dr. Liliana Stern on Growing Up in the USSR

JuliaBlaschke (View Comment): JcTPatriot The GOP used to have some standards and principles. Now, for Trumpers and the Bannon crowd, at least, all that matters is winning.

I am so deeply sorry if you truly believe that. So deeply sorry for you. I pray that some day you can come to grips with the reality that your mind has created, and not let it affect your life too negatively. I think a lot of people on the Right have also created this world in their minds, and it makes your days so hard to get through, I know. You were wrong in 2016, so completely wrong, and instead of blaming yourselves, you choose to blame the person who proved you to be so wrong, and perhaps it helps to relieve your pain. I wish I could wave a magic wand and help all of you see that you have chosen the wrong road to travel, but anything I could do short of that would only make you rebel against us all the more.

We’re winning, the Right is winning, America is becoming great again, and I wish all of you would join the Winning side. I have given up no Principles or Standards; in fact, I am more Conservative than ever. For me, life gets better and better every day and I don’t see that streak ending. I wish I could bring you down here to Texas and show you this greatness. Life is good!

When both candidates are scum you get a third candidate.

    1. Yes, maybe next election a third candidate will appear but what do you about the present election?
    2. If ever a third candidate did appear in our history it’s Trump.
    3. Or you decide which is worse and vote for the other one. To say that they are always exactly equal in their scumminess is sticking your head in the sand.

Why do we have “Bannon candidates” at all? Why does anyone give one second’s credence to anything Bannon says? Beats me.

Never ending 2% GDP, identity politics, and an opioid crisis will do that to a political system.

I still don’t see anyone could think Bannon is the answer to any of those problems.

Bannon is as much the answer as McConnell

Holy cow this is exactly correct. I would throw Rep Tom Massy in there too.

Or you could try reading some of Stockman’s actual stuff.

I hope the producers are working to fix the persistent audio glitches. It’s been happening for many weeks now: someone is in the middle of making an interesting point, and then zap! it’s five or ten seconds later, and we don’t get to hear what was being said…

We’re aware of it. It’s not consistent, which makes it incredibly difficult to debug.

Update: we think we’ve found the source of this issue and fixed it. ?
