The B (For Baby) Team

This week, Ricochet editors Jon Gabriel and Bethany Mandel and yes, her baby (listen closely and you’ll hear him in this podcast) join Peter and James to discuss another maddening news cycle. Our guest Harmeet Dhillon takes us through the latest power grab by the Biden Administration, the means to fight back and the hopes for an Elder in Sacramento’s Governor’s mansion. The Ricochet gang also take some time to remember 9/11 and assess the distinction between worthwhile arguments and the kinds that necessitate the block button.

Music from this week’s podcast: The Nothing Man by Bruce Springsteen

Any talk that James wasnt supposed to be in this podcast is fake news and should be treated as such.

    Sue me.

James had another commitment and wasn’t sure that he could make it. And he waltzed in about 10 minutes late, much to the relief of all who dreaded the chore of trying to segue into – and then actually read – commercial copy.

If you were with us for the Zoomcast every time James effortlessly slid into a commercial Peter got this look on his face that said, “There, but for the grace of God…”

On top of all that, the youngest commentator we had decided to turn the podcast into a real crap shoot. Or, to break the COC, a descriptive alliteration with the word “show” in it. Luckily for all of us (and by all of us I mean everyone not named Bethany Mandel), those early attempts of inventing Smell-a-vision failed spectacularly. Or as I once remarked to my wife while holding our first born at arm’s length, “I know this is supposed to be new but does this baby smell like it’s spoiled to you?”

Which Block Button is that?  I’ve never seen it.

It’s possible to Waltz on Zoom?  I guess that’s not a surprise, since Rob manages to Swan on it.

The “Bethany Bio” in the “sidebar” is out of date.

Also, how is it possible to find her Ricochet posts?  I’m not seeing any way to get there, from clicking on her name in the “sidebar.”  It seems like you need to find a COMMENT from someone, in order to get to their list of other comments.

Thank you, but my larger point was that it should be possible to navigate there, through the site.  But clicking on her name in this podcast post, or on the other posts such as Edit This, only goes to her Contributor page, and there is nothing on the Contributor page that goes through to Blog, or Biography, or Posts/Comments…

In Lieu of a lawsuit I will just have to have you on my show again, just as soon @garymcvey can get back to us :)

Is Bethany ready for her friend and his golf-playing daughters to move to Florida and help turn Florida blue?

Being “red-pilled” on a single issue may not mean very much.

Ms. Dhillon had a lot of helpful things to say about practical action,  not just theory and ranting.

[I thought someone should bring up the formal guest, although I did enjoy seeing the live show because Bethany and Baby were much cuter than the regular hosts.]

This might not be exactly what you are saying, but I thought it was really persuasive in a practical sense, not just the expected lawyer argument. The resources consumed and the risks to manage were explained really well.

The fact is, the damn vaccine does not work like the flu vaccine in terms of transmission or what they told us it was going to do. It’s like a safety thing, but not a transmission thing. Now they are trying to make everybody fix it by throwing spaghetti at the wall. Public health is reckless and worthless.

I do not know well (and am not at all interested in) the Matrix, but I am nonetheless fond of stories in which what seems to be a perfect hoax is foiled by a telltale clue, something that makes the protagonist(s) smell a rat…I was pleased to hear Bethany Mandel say that the left’s hostility towards Israel exposes the delusional ideology for what it is.

Twenty years ago I was in Germany, when my wife called from Japan…I turned on the TV…Later I went to the deserted town plaza and found candles and flowers already lying there…All too soon the mood changed to: Let us all sing Kumbaya and go back to denouncing GWB as a reckless cowboy…I couldn’t help but take it just a bit personally, however tangentially: My elder daughter suffered ongoing respiratory problems from smoke inhalation on 9/11, as she was in a student dormitory only a few blocks from the Twin Towers. She was nonetheless lucky…I think of a friend who helped in the rescue effort–and who died before his time as the result of it all…Again, Bethany Mandel is right: There are times when we should  express our anger.

Republicans wanted corporations to prosper but I’ve never heard of even K-street Republicans wanting corporations to have power over medical decisions.

Any chance we could get a title or a link to the 9/11 video James referenced?

It’s been a few days since I listened to this podcast but I wanted to say that Harmeet Dhillon was outstanding and if she ever has any time away from fighting the good fight she would be a wonderful addition to Ricochet as a new podcaster. Failing that I am now following her on Twitter. For Peter and Harmeet, Dartmouth can deservedly take a bow.

    Working on that!
