constructive_criticism_wide_1024Yep, it’s a special Wednesday edition of the Ricochet Podcast featuring our good friend Pat Sajak (note to prospective guests: when you’re a beloved and iconic contributor to Ricochet and the culture at large, we’ll accommodate your schedule). This week,  Ted Cruz declares; can he win? Then, Pat joins to discuss his not happening Senate campaign, whether the weather is changing, and why we ought to move the capital of the country to the middle of the desert.  Also, lectern speeches vs. roaming around Oprah style, and Lileks gets outraged over…outrage. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this one.

Music from this week’s episode:

Watching The Wheels by John Lennon

The opening sequence for the Ricochet Podcast was composed and produced by James Lileks.

That’s hot, EJHill.

Larry Koler:Most of us conservatives liked every thing about that interview. Everything.

I’m not sure where all or most of you get together to agree together, but there were people commenting on that interview-podcast. Unflattering things were said & approved…

    Great analysis.

I get a sense you’re trying for sarcasm. I’m not sure what’s wrong with you. It just looks like you do not care to find out how others here think. Maybe you do not care, & I do not know that you need to care. But I do not understand why you should be sarcastic about it. When you ask what someone else might think & refuse to make any effort to understand them–maybe you thinking thinking otherwise is worthless. Make the effort, you might find there’s at least some sense to what people are saying…

I talked about conservatives and your reply discussed people here. Apples and oranges.

You are an amazing man. I’d say the folks on this podcast are at least somewhat conservative–so in the other–maybe that’s not good enough or what have you…

Peter is a conservative. Rob? yes, in most things but he’s not a socon. James? a conservative and this is why I’m perplexed by his statement. He didn’t clarify what he meant by oil at all. And James is only a moderate socon — he probably doesn’t go in for the Bible thumping and I want to elicit a response from him about his feelings for Falwell. I can learn a lot from this. But, the principals here don’t often respond so I’m in it for the long haul — I’ll figure him out eventually.

Now, let’s get back to your muddled responses. I say apples and oranges about the people on this site and you revert to the people on the podcast. Please try and reason this out more clearly.

I have a visceral reaction to Ted Cruz similar to that voiced by James on the podcast.  I can’t explain it.  I don’t know why.  Maybe it’s because Ted subconsciously reminds me too much of Mr. Haney.

Image result for Mr Haney Image result for ted cruz

    Nonetheless, that’s my reaction.

Can’t explain it? Well, try, please. Dig down in your subconscious and pluck out your prejudices.

The way you allow people to admit how worthless they are is really a thing to behold. Amazing man, as I said-

Per James’ description of humanizing candidates, could this be scripted into a Hillary campaign ad?
