Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
It’s a better-late-than-never show. We’ve got galavanting hosts (James is out this week), a Supreme Court steeped in overdue contemplation (John Yoo fills in for James to keep fill us in and even makes a prediction!) and our guest, Bjørn Lomborg is here to talk COP26.
Lomborg—author of False Alarm: How Climate Change Panic Costs Us Trillions, Hurts the Poor, and Fails to Fix the Planet—takes us through all the great things Climate leaders have accomplished with these conferences, including promises that they will have accomplished great things in the coming decades…
Aside from John’s thoughts on the speciousness of the arguments against Dobbs and the behind the scenes process that will take place between now and when get their decision, he also tells us about his time shooting hoops with Charles Barkley; And Rob updates us on his travels (to Hungary now) and his delighted impressions of conservatism abroad.
Music from this week’s podcast: Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On) by Talking Heads

It’s said that John Roberts places great value on the “prestige” of the court, and so if the decision would otherwise be 5-4 to overturn Roe, then Roberts should join the majority to make it 6-3. If he doesn’t, that shows his claim about concern about the “prestige” of the court to be just more bushwah. (sp?)
I always love hearing Yoo!
Also, if Roberts joins the majority, he can assign himself the writing of the decision.
This is how Chief Justice Warren Burger prevented a liberal Court from permanently banning capital punishment.
Rob might be right about Orbon being a crook, how is that different than the Bidens, the Clintons and permanent bureaucracy
On the COP26, why did they not have an in-person conference? Why not just do it all on zoom? It would save vast amounts of carbon and the “leaders” would set an example, instead of going on a junket. It seems the 1% (to use the left’s terminology) want to live high on the hog, while reducing the 99% to poverty.
As attributed to many people, “I will start taking climate change seriously when those proposing drastic changes act as though it’s a serious threat.”
This is just another example of Rob Long being distracted by the glittery, unimportant stuff over there while ignoring the main issues over here.
Also an example of his irreducible faith in the liberal media.
No doubt he condemns Orban for his mean tweets, too!
How is Rob supposed to get upset about things in the US when there’s fine beer to be drunk at old pubs in Budapest or whatever?

Wow! I hadn’t quite panicked, but I was beginning to worry…But the wait was so much worth it!
Great podcast, even without James Lileks. The guest is a voice of sanity, as always, and John Yoo–such a man of wit and wisdom! Please don’t wait until beginning of July to have him back!
My “liberal” friends in Europe curse Viktor Orbán as a means to change the subject: They don’t want to talk about Xi and Putin. It’s also a matter of the longstanding pecking order. In the old days, raving about the beauty of Budapest (under Communism) showed that one was both politically “cool” and aesthetically sophisticated. But now “the East” has become uppity…Angry at my non-PC views, someone said to me not so long ago: “You talk like our Polish cook…And if she isn’t triple-vaccinated soon, we intend to fire her!” Plus ça change…
