Sad for Peter that Putin outlawed loosely tying sweaters around necks. When will the oppression end?!

Lileks: “Oh, ironic doesn’t begin to describe Israel saving Germany by selling them gas.”
What a line! One for the ages.
FYI, the “Tetris Theme Song” is actually a 19th century Russian folk song called “Korobeiniki” (Коробейники), or “Peddlers.” The lyrics read rather strangely when translated into english, but there’s a lot of saucy double-entendres that keep it from being boring.

This is now up there with John Yoo should run for the Water Board in my favorite lines ever…but anyone, not just Lileks.
Thank you for keeping Ricochet civil. It’s the only place I would want to comment.
Not quite.
EJ: you keep topping yourself. The nesting dolls are wonderful.
Was about to say the same.
OF COURSE I’m the smallest. <huff>
James, you’re neither a dictator or a founder. Such is the inequity of life.
Small point of confusion: in the opening ceremonies, I thought the Soviet segment was that part with all the red light and industrial sound effects? It seemed fittingly demonic to me, frankly.
Lefty watermelons will do everything they can to strangle the energy renaissance baby in its crib. In the US I predict they will be largely successful.
I thought Putin was you when I first saw it. It probably had something to do with that black motorcycle jacket you were wearing out west a while back.
So Rob says they shut down The Anti-Child Animus of SSM Supporters because some people made good arguments against State-sanctioned Sodomitic Menages and offended people who support and engage in them. That’s not center-right conversation. That’s Liberal Fascist privileging of feelings over reason to kill conversation.
Why aren’t we roaring with laughter at the very idea of SSM? The Duck Dynasty guy was right when he pointed out that buggery and coitus are not the same thing. (The Zeitgeist: What?!? They both involve orgasms and penetrating various dark orifices! How can they not be the same!) The absurdity is doubled when we go from concept to practice, and I don’t just mean the naked guy in the gay pride parade with his pink toy poodles leashed to his genital piercings. The whole homosexual gestalt is imitative to the point of fraudulence, and they offer that as an argument: “Homosexuals just want the same thing other people have”! No, they want to pretend that what they want is the same as what we have, and they want us to ratify their sham.
Sounds like the Leviathan field gives Iran even more motivation to nuke Israel and for Russia to help. And thus more reason for Israel to nuke Iran.
EJ, please DON’T top yourself.

Peter and I were in DC this week recording some Uncommon Knowledge interviews. We’ll be back next week (probably Thursday).
