Is it the dawning of a new era or are we continuing the one we’re already in? The answer was not clear when we assembled today at 9AM Pacific Time (the best time zone, as everyone knows), but we do our best to pundit all of the facts we knew when we rolled tape clicked record. But before we start that, Rob Long has a statement he’d like to make. And Peter Robinson has some thoughts on why the race may not really be over. On that topic, we are lucky to have John Yoo, Esq. back on to take us through the myriad election laws on both the state and the Federal level. Then, Arizona native (and Ricochet Editor-In-Chief) Jon Gabriel calls in from his car to explain the finer points of voting with a Sharpie and why that matters and offer his theory on how that state’s Presidential race is going to wind up. Finally, we go across the pond to Budapest to tap the mind of one the most cogent political observers we know: John O’Sullivan. From his perch in Budapest, he has a perspective and a point of view that is perceptive and unique. And he sounds so urbane when he delivers it, we can’t resist. Finally, wind up with some thoughts and insights on polling and why it was so off this cycle.
That’s a wrap on the 202o election cycle, folks. We thank you for sticking with us. We know (boy, do we know…) that you didn’t always agree with what you heard on this show, but we hope you weren’t bored and that once in a while you gained an insight or two. We have some interesting plans for the show going forward (including offering members the ability to watch it –warts and all– live on Zoom as we record it) and some very cool guests. So, Trump got record-high share of black and hispanic votes, but according to Rob, “Trump didn’t expand his base?”
Sure, Rob.
“Didn’t expand his base” means “I didn’t vote for him in 2020 either”.
Rob’s still using that old saw? It was obvious that Trump was expanding his base during his term. Not by pandering, but by making life better for all Americans. He would point out the great work he was doing for blacks and it seems to have resonated.
I can tell the picture is a photoshop because the masks are generic disposable ones and not the Biden-Harris ones in the actual pictures.
As soon as I heard that remark about whether Trump supporters can learn I laughed.
The party with Trump at the top expanded the vote everywhere except for white soy boys and old farts. Did you Nevers learn anything at all from that? I’d bet “NO”. (Not my data; heard if from Ben Shapiro.)
When James was saying “black, and to the left” I thought he was introducing Kamala Harris as the next guest.
Trump supporters voted in YUGE numbers as never before, surpassed only by the enthusiastic turnout of deceased Democrats.
And the Dims with multiple-personality-disorder where each personality voted, more than once.
By ignoring Election Fraud these guys(Rob and John) they are normalizing it. The mistake that they are making is that assuming that the current run of Election Fraud is some sort of National conspiracy are overlooking that is occurring in historically corrupt areas and since it always occurs there it is ok. It is not. We have a third world election system. Why you need a court order to allow observers in the polling place and the tabulating place is astounding to me. The whole process should by transparent to all. The places in GA that have some possible election fraud issues are the same ones that kept observers out…the rest of us wonder if everything is on the up and up why so secret? Of note, in one of the counting places in Fulton County the counting manager told the GOP reps the counting was over for the night and they were ending for the night…then resumed counting after the GOP guys left. Why is that? If there is a problem it was locally done not part of a national conspiracy but still WRONG…
By my proposal, ALL the votes for that Fulton County area – however much it covers – should be ignored.
That does sound like quintessential Rob. “Trump didn’t convince ME to vote for him, therefore he didn’t expand his base.”
Yeah, crazy kooks make electoral fraud accusations like Michael Gableman, a former justice on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court, who said at the Milwaukee ballot counting facility, ballot observers were kept 50 feet away while the count was going on.

Instead of three Johns, in a situation like this you’re supposed to consult the three Js; Jim (Beam), Jack (Daniels), and Johnny (Walker).
I notice it’s not “Count Every Legal Vote” so we know where her head is at.
As far as I can see there are 5 senate seats unresolved. If the Democratic Party could win 3 of 5 it would control the Senate. The Democratic Party seems likely to win the Arizona seat, and the North Carolina race is very close so one might imagine it could go either way. Then there are the 2 seats in Georgia of which at least one and perhaps both will go to runoffs.
Is it reasonable to assume that the Democratic Party cannot win 3 of 5? That does not seem out of the question at all, and perhaps it is not even unlikely. If Georgia went against Trump is terribly hard to imagine Georgia going for a Democrat in one or both run-offs? If many votes against Trump are consistently found in every state where counting continues, why can such votes not be found against say Tillis? Or anyone in these 5 races?
The triumphalism celebrating winning the Senate while losing the Presidency seems quite premature. The gang here seems to dismiss this possibility. Couldn’t it be a coin flip’s chance?

Rob, stay with me here. When all of the results show massive Republican victories, House, Senate, State Legislatures, ballot propositions, and somehow the president – who was winning big time before the shennigans started, who drew rock star crowds in all of the battleground states – somehow loses in the wake of hundreds of reports of fraud, are you seriously so dedicated to your narrative that you refuse to acknowledge that millions of Americans love this man, and that the election results are a coup in progress?
The evidence is clear that the people want what Donald Trump (and few others) have been preaching. He’s not the outlier here, hes’ the source.
Trump is apparently really bad at being racist.
Given that apparently the only ethnic group that shifted away from Trump and towards Biden compared to 4 years ago is Whites, it would not be unreasonable to conclude that White Supremacists elected Biden.
