After a brief hiatus, The Ricochet Podcast returns with nothing short of revolution on its mind. Our guest this week: the great Charles Murray, to discuss his latest book By the People: Rebuilding Liberty Without Permission, an argument for civil disobedience. Will it catch on? Also, who are the top ten GOP candidates, should our candidates appear on George Stephanopoulos’s show (h/t Ricochet member Brian Watt), and will Elian Gonzalez become a propaganda symbol if he visits the U.S. (another h/t to Ricochet member Richard Anderson). Finally, how should have Jeb Bush answered that question on the Iraq War? Our panel weighs in.
Music from this week’s episode:
Talkin’ Bout A Revolution by Tracy Chapman
The opening sequence for the Ricochet Podcast was composed and produced by James Lileks.

Like I said, gut-wrenching fear. Quite the scent, I wager. One wonders how people get through the day–imagine a quiet suburb, then a bureaucrat comes in, of a sudden it’s Dodge City & no Wyatt Earp.
How about you lead the charge?
Would if I could, just for the fun of looking down my nose at you. Of course, the scenery would be a bit of work, but it’s doable. Fun as all this is, I think you might be right, there is nothing to do but pray. You are certainly right to suggest only a madman would step up.
Here’s Herodotus: Periander, tyrant of Corinth, had sent a herald to Thrasybulus tyrant of Corinth & inquired in what way he would best & most safely govern his city. Thrasybulus led the man who had come from Periander outside the town, & entered into a sown field. As he walked through the corn, continually asking why the messenger had come to him from Corinth, he kept cutting off all the tallest ears of wheat which he could see, & throwing them away, until he had destroyed the best & richest part of the crop.
Where do I find the video of the Dadly Virtues book event?
