If conservatives can be proud of their victories over the last few decades, imagine how proud progressives must be . . . in spite of a conservative constitution and a conservative electorate, every element of the failed Equal Rights Amendment has the force of law. It is legal, in 2029, to discriminate on the basis of race. We have between ten and thirty million illegal aliens in the US, with no chance at all of reducing that number by simply enforcing the immigration laws passed by a bipartisan congress.

I wonder what a conservative failure would look like? Oh yeah, Trump as POTUS.

Trump might be a “failure” to the conservative “establishment” or “elite.” Even though he does things they claimed to support. But not a failure to the conservative populace/voters.

This sounded like it was supposed to be a conversation or interview or even “debate,” but I could swear Jonah did at least 3/4 of the talking.

I’d be interested to know what Jonah thinks he is referring to as “Facts” at 1:12. It is a Fact that Trump and whozits from Ukraine had a phone call. And you could say it is a Fact that the call lasted X minutes and Y seconds, etc. Basically all the rest, is not Facts, but Opinions. We shouldn’t be too surprised though, Jonah often seems to confuse his Opinions, especially about Trump, with Facts.

    Love hearing from D. Crenshaw.

I hadn’t heard much from him before. I was very impressed. Seemed quite articulate and thoughtful. I’d like to hear more from him.

In regard to the U.S. healthcare system, I’m glad they brought up how the world rides piggyback on the massive levels of healthcare innovation that trace back to our system (e.g. new drugs, procedures, technologies, etc.). And when in need, those who can afford it come from elsewhere (from systems that don’t work well) to get care here.

That said, I recently heard one of the most eye opening interviews I’ve heard in a very long time. It opened a door on just how far we have strayed from a free market system for healthcare, and how there is a growing movement of clinics and doctors who are saying “Goodbye” to business as usual and bringing the advantages of a market approach back into healthcare.

    See below. Highly recommended!

Keith Smith on Free Market Health Care
    Nov 18 2019

“Entrepreneur and Anesthesiologist Keith Smith of the Surgery Center of Oklahoma talks with host Russ Roberts about what it’s like to run a surgery center that posts prices on the internet and that does not take insurance. Along the way, he discusses the distortions in the market for health care and how a real market for health care might function if government took a smaller role.”
