Joyce discusses clever ways that Mitch McConnell, if he wanted to, could make some small compromises to avoid giant progressive leaps over the carcass of the Senate filibuster. The American people will come to regret those leaps.

You can just give up on the filibuster.  It is all but history now.

I fear you are correct, but the filibuster plays a valuable role in finding meaningful compromise.

When the US Senate is divided 50/50 — only urban America is represented.  That contributes to the division and diatribe we are experiencing politically at the moment.

The American experiment depends on the ability to compromise and to evolve one step at a time — toward that “more perfect union” —

The filibuster contributes to that evolution.   Let’s pray for Joe Manchin’s long life and good health.

You should listen to the Verdict with Ted Cruz.  His read is that Manchin has never taken a strong principle stand his entire life and is now in the process figuring out how to kill the filibuster with least damage to him.
