This week, Dave sat down with Ricochet Contributor (and NRA instructor) Kevin Creighton to talk about all things related to firearms and self defense.  Along the way, we gain valuable perspective on the Las Vegas shooting, the changing demographics of gun ownership, firearm ideas for senior citizens, and even Professor Walter Russell Mead’s thesis on the implosion of the blue state model of government.  And then there’s the story of how Dave’s daughter handled bullies while in grade school (hint: she’s not a victim). Informative and fun, we think you’ll enjoy listening in.

Thank you sir.  It was a fun to do this one.  Actually, it’s been fun doing all of them.  I like my work (but I try not to let on too much).

And a friend of mine pointed out that not only did Ted Cruz do a quail hunt, he also cooked bacon on a rifle barrel, which is kinda cool.

Okay, really cool. Ted gets it.

I’ve never touched a gun, but I am a huge movie geek, and occasionally I talk to a friend of mine who was in the army about the guns in movies and TV shows because they’re often important to the plot. I liked the use of Blackhawk Down to make the point about automatic fire. My buddy told me a long time ago that firing fully automatic is basically pointless except except for suppression – which would never have occurred to me, but made a lot of sense when I thought about it.

Enjoyed the show very much. Last year my wife decided it was time for our household to get a gun. I wasn’t opposed to them, but it wasn’t something I pushed for either. After we made the handgun purchase, I was searching the internet about some topic, maybe how to clean a handgun. One of the first articles was by Kevin, “Hey, I know that guy.” It was informative and helpful.

As a Wichita State alumnus, from a time when they and Creighton were in the same conference, I’ll gently let @kevincreighton know that Creighton is located in Omaha, Nebraska and not Kansas.

Meh, whatever. All of flyover country looks the same. :)

Actually, I knew that, because I had a boss from Omaha who went to Creighton Prep.

Once again, I blame the bourbon. :)
