Jay’s guest is his erstwhile podcast partner and always friend, Mona Charen. They talk about this period of home confinement. And when to “reopen” the economy. And the question of the World Health Organization and China. And a lot more. Mona has been baking lately, as many people have, which has led to a shortage of yeast. Mona has always baked when at home for extended periods. It is her “comfort activity.” Now everyone’s gotten in on the act. Among Mona’s recent products are bagels. Jay remembers being at H & H Bagels on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, many years ago. A woman stepped up to the counter, stretched her arms out, and said, “What’s hot?” In other words, “What’s freshly out of the oven?” Hence the title of this “Q&A.”

I gave up on Mona several years ago. I won’t be listening. She has made it clear to me her perspective on issues is superior to my citizen naive take on the world.

Mona sees things differently than you, but she’s never been condescending or rude, as most Ricochetti have been to her.

Respectfully, if you believe that she has “never been condescending”, you have not been listening to her either. I have no ill feelings toward her generally, but on certain topics it can go beyond just “seeing things differently”.

For me, Mona went over the line when she announced she would be voting for a Democrat for President. Biden will be an awful President and will be for all of the issues Mona has spent her life speaking against. But I have never found her condescending and think she is a very kind and thoughtful woman.

This is hilarious timing since there was just the big discussion on Mona. I don’t think many people will be listening based on that.
