Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Mona Charen joins Jay for a “Need to Know”-style hour. As of old, they go back and forth – about the flood (not the Noah-related one, but the recent one in Washington, D.C.); the left-wing nuttiness of the Democratic party; troubles – further troubles – in RightWorld; Jeffrey Epstein; the British ambassador; Nancy Reagan; “Miss” and “Mrs.” and “Ms.”; the late Lee Iacocca; and yet more things under the sun.

Wokelahoma!
Miss it twice.
Didn’t realize how much I missed Need to Know until I listened to this. Please do it again soon.
On the other hand, why did you leave us hanging about what GWBush said after Trump’s inauguration?
In response to the inauguration address : “That was some weird s***.”
Thanks.
See, Jay, you made a huge mistake in releasing this episode: Now you’ve reminded us how much we miss Need to Know and we’re all mad at you. Bring it back!
Regarding what type of conservative we are: I say it’s high time we reclaim the word “neoconservative”, which I like to define as “a conservative who cares about human rights”. The leftist accusations that we’re warmongers are best countered with the fact that we make war to restore human rights to the oppressed — not to mention that the neoconservative insistence that the Soviet Union grant human rights to its citizens was the key to getting it to collapse from within. In that case our caring about human rights prevented a war.
Another phrase I like to use: Spiderman conservatism. America’s a great power, so America has great responsibility. A responsibility towards rescuing the suffering people in North Korea and other dictatorships; a responsibility towards maintaining peace in the world; a responsibility to open its doors to the suffering; a responsibility towards the liberal world order that has granted so much prosperity to so many.
Perhaps Rs would be mad and Ds would be saying “move on” as Jay describes if the shoe was on the other foot, though this assumes we would even be able to know if Russia had helped the Ds, which would likely be considered a conspiracy theory by the left if we did…
but, what is Jay so “rattled” about? What are we supposed to do? If anything?
