Michael Powell is a national reporter for the New York Times. He has had many beats in his career, including sports. Today, he has a tricky one, you might even say a dangerous one: free speech, campus life, intellectual debate. Recently, he published a blockbuster piece headed “Inside a Battle Over Race, Class and Power at Smith College.” Jay talks with him about this—and about his career, the media, and much else. A terrific conversationalist, Michael Powell.

OK I’ll try listening for a few minutes but a NYT reporter who hasn’t been cancelled? Probably not worth listening to.

In Michael Powell’s pursuit of different points of view, I was most curious to know if he had ever listened to one of the most influential individuals in the conservative movement — Rush Limbaugh. Powell comes off as a very likeable fellow, so I did enjoy listening to him.

I agree that he is likable @Goldwaterwoman but, yeah, I doubt he listened to El Rushbo or checked out Ace of Spades HQ or, for that matter, Ricochet. I predict he will be out of job at NYT within the year. Just the Smith College article has put him on the SJW radar so they’ll be gunning for him.
