Ben Shapiro is the editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire. He is one of the most prominent conservative journalists in America. The 2016 cycle was a wild ride for him, as for many. He has the distinction – is that the word? – of being the No. 1 target for anti-Semitic hate in his field.

And, as Jay notes, the guy has a spine of steel. (Also a stomach of iron.)

With Jay, Shapiro talks about politics today, the Right today, journalism today. His onetime comrade Steve Bannon.

Ben Shapiro’s is a very lively mind, and an exceptionally independent one too. He gives you a feast for thought.

This is an interesting discussion.  We need the voices of Shapiro et al  because we need really smart young people who still care about the truth in our media outlets, talking to students, writing books and articles, hopefully another WFB calling us out for getting the truth wrong.  Still, not everyone can go down this path.  most of us are not as smart or as articulate as Shapiro, Krauthammer, Will and second,  the tribal war must be fought to remove progressives  from positions of power.   Victory over the progressive tribe  means making the government smaller, dismembering progressive strongholds so we must protest any Trump policies that expand Federal powers, increase spending, but should not lose sleep over the fact that our new President is  inarticulate and appears broadly ignorant about a lot we care about.  Rather, we have to focus on the big stuff what kind of tax cuts, what regulatory reform, how do we defund the teachers unions and in general decentralize.   I am encouraged that Shapiro finds the youth more open to him and that it’s is a generational thing.  Us old timers, former cold warriors have watched the progressives march through our system laying Alien  eggs everywhere, so we are impatient  to see those eggs destroyed and things put right before we depart because a more enduring  victory which we wont see, awaits rebirth of civil society, Burkes platoons.

Listening to this, I realize that Shapiro and Jay are just not used to the factionalism that is the conservative movement.

Sometimes your particular brand is out and another group is ‘in’ control for a while.
Aside from the anti-semetism is what the alt-right doing so much different than what the Neo-cons did to the paleo cons and the anti-war right?

Trump is just a moment, wait a few years and someone else will be running the show. Nothing lasts forever it is the way of things.

This was a great podcast; I’m going to add The Daily Wire to my rotation.

I’m really disappointed by this fad of anti-Semitism, I really think it got it’s start among young people as a naughty transgression, rather than a real ideology, after the Borat movie in 2006. I have no proof, but like Jay I’m an older man and have never heard or read an anti-Semitic remark in my life outside of films until recently.

I’m a big fan of Shapiro’s and listen to his podcast pretty much every time he records one.   I hope he gave NT Jay some food for thought.   Ben’s view of Trump is much more balanced.  Excellent interview, though, Jay!

Great podcast as usual. I think Ben is a great thinker and communicator. Being interviewed made him even better than in his own podcast where he sometimes comes across as lecturing too long (50 minutes monologue). The back and forth with Jay made it better listening. Not only format. Jay had many great interjections that took Ben to his peak performance. Jay is a great interviewer and Q&A is a great Ricochet podcast.

Check out the Ben Shapiro podcast. that and Ben Shapiro’s articles at Daily Wire are the best part of of The Daily Wire, IMO.

Some of the headlines (mostly those not by Ben) are a bit clickbaity – arousing your interest but not really explaining much, and some of the authors there are totally in the tank for President Trump even going so far as to say it’s ok if he lies.

Oh, also, the advertisements on that site are obnoxious and intrusive. Don’t go without your hazmat suit or else  you will get popups and other crap ads.
