Richard Brookhiser is a journalist and historian — the author of many books about the Founders. His latest book is Founders’ Son, about Abraham Lincoln and his relation to the founding generation.

Brookhiser is also Jay’s fellow senior editor at National Review — and, in this podcast, they cover a lot of ground.

They talk about the Founders. And Lincoln. And the Civil War. And FDR. And conservatism. And the media. And today’s politics, including Trump.

They also talk about one of Brookhiser’s great loves: New York City. And the question, Will America make it? Are we on our last legs or just warming up? Or somewhere in between?

Rick Brookhiser has a superb mind and exceptional powers of expression. A first-class interviewee.

I was happy to hear Rick Brookhiser describe himself as a National Review Conservative. I used that exact phrase in my Twitter profile for a while after the “Against Trump” issue cane out.
