October is not even one week along and we’ve already had enough “October surprises” to span about five years. First, the epiphany of J.D. Vance, Superstar. If he had been any better we’d need to enlist Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice to score and produce the Broadway musical of Vance the Vanquisher. Come to think of it, that would make a great professional wrestling name. Except Tim Walz wrestled himself to the ground; maybe we should call him the Klucking Knucklehead?
From there we offer some observations about the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, and wonder whether the usual incompetence or malevolence explains the appalling spectacle of the government’s recovery efforts there. We won’t find out from the mainstream media.
Then, some things to watch for at the first anniversary of October 7 on Monday, and some portents of Iran’s missile attack on Israel this week. Where are we on the World War III countdown clock?
Lastly, Jack Smith emerged from his Groundhog Day lair once again to proclaim six more weeks of attempted criminalizing of Trump. Snore or snort—your choice.

Whisly? Must have been at least four, no?

Does that mean cats are Democrats?
Steve, “Is the Pope Catholic?” is no longer a rhetorical question but a legitimate inquiry.
I’d like to get the trio’s thoughts on another possible October Surprise. I’ve seen a thought on Twitter that Dr. Jill will be given a final offer to get out of the White House early, Joe will be given the final shove, and Kamala will become the incumbent to get a last minute bounce. A long shot, but is a possibility.
I wrote about this exact idea last week (great minds!):

Excellent point!
Maybe the person I saw was quoting you. I’ll give it a read.
Great minds? I suggested a pre-election Biden resignation on September 4: https://ricochet.com/1702660/a-cunning-plan-my-advice-to-the-harris-campaign/.
Interesting take on Biden resigning if Kamala loses. I agree that resigning before November has its issues.
Thanks for wading into the comments with us plebes. Interacting with hosts was a selling point Ricochet did in the beginning but not many big names still do it.
I love all our commenters! Even the losers and haters! Wish I had more time to do it.
What would be the point of that? Just to try and screw up Trump’s sequence #?
Steve covers it well. Kamala becomes the first woman President, if only for two months, and Biden gets another round of crowing about how he’s magnanimous like Washington.
It’s not quite as significant if she wasn’t ELECTED President. Even some Democrats might notice that.
