ntk-logoMona and Jay welcome Shannen Coffin, the crack lawyer, who explains what Hillary and her team 1774have been up to. (Coffin has nothing to do with cocaine, or the funeral business. He is merely a top-notch lawyer.) Then the hosts talk about the Israeli election, which the Obama administration is less than thrilled about. The discussion turns to the Iranian dictatorship, which the hosts aren’t so thrilled about.

They further discuss President Obama’s rhetoric: wherein Gov. Scott Walker is a foe of “working Americans.” Sometimes Obama sounds like a street-corner Marxist. How come? Additional topics include the musical-plagiarism case pitting Marvin Gaye’s family against Robin Thicke and his co-composer, Pharrell Williams. In Jay’s view, the Gaye family’s new riches are ill-gotten.

Robert Greenberg is the man. Thank you, Mona for alerting me to him a few podcasts back.

Apart from the language, wasn’t it at least a little over the top for the White House to issue a statement condemning a state governor on a state issue?  Or is that just me?  Isn’t Wisconsin law a matter for Wisconsin?

I’m not quite sure where the line is.  Obviously we typically accept out-of-state politicians — even Presidents — campaigning for or against state officials.  And I wouldn’t expect a President to pretend to have no opinion if asked.

But for the President of the United States to simply release an isolated statement condemning a state law that has no federal relevance feels inappropriate to me.

SO, Jay and Mona: Did you read that Bedouin Arab towns voted for Likud in higher percentages than any other demographic slice of the Israeli populace?

Not only is Dr. Greenberg the man, but I was thrilled to hear that the Great Courses (formerly the Teaching Company) is going to advertise on Ricochet, if I heard the podcast right.  My wife and I are hooked on their courses – crack for the intellect.  Take a look at the bookselves on the first floor landing of our house:

Sorry Mona, the average American can’t even tell you what street Iran is on. Most people aren’t going to pay attention until the lights go out after the EMP from an Iranian nuke fries the power grid. And then it will be Bush’s fault.

And Mona: I thought Tthat you’d appreciate knowing your  Ricochet column on the stillborn attempt at diet-decaf  Maoist reeducation that was Starbuck’s “Race Together” made the electronic pages of Black Community News.
