Yes. Bill. I do fully agree that the ferocity and rigorous (ideologically sustained) homicidal madness has been there for a long time. But the new, sustaining myth of the reestablished caliphate does give that shared madness a widened and deepened provenance. In marketing terms it is as if they have made a great leap forward in developing their “branding” strategy.
