The Trump impersonation is very weak, alas!

But Michele McPhee on the FBI’s feet of clay is essential listening.

As she points out, in the last analysis the FBI is a government bureaucracy, with all the dire implications you should expect.

The D-Harmony bit was HILARIOUS! Kevin Barbare is very talented. I’ve gotten a ton of feedback already. But you’re right re: McPhee. Great stuff.

    1. I have no idea what you’re talking about with regard to CPAC. Are they hosting the French alt-right?
    2. What’s your problem with Clark?
    3. Everyone is too hard on Milo. They just need to understand that he stopped being a journalist/pundit and transformed himself into a comic. Understand that and he ceases to be problematic. His schtick is no more transgressive than Silverman’s. He never crossed into Griffin’s bloody head territory.
    4. On guns and #DoSomething… hoo boy. Pretty much everything you said struck me as unhinged. I’m not one of the NRA fanboys with an ‘onanistic gun fetish’ that you mused about. I don’t care about the 2nd Amendment at all. If it’s repealed, that’s fine with me. I just find your approach to be variously paranoid, delusional, and (politically) suicidal.
    5. Whitey: Depp or Nicholson?
    6. ‘Obviously, he slept with Stormy Daniels:’ fact check – true. I think the Fortune magazine bit is fake news, though.
    7. Some people who like Trump say they don’t care about his infidelities.’ Right. What do the others say? I only know the laissez-faire types.
    8. ‘Has Trump killed the idea of values voters?’ – You’ve asked this before. I always thought values voters were people united behind a constellation of issues that involved ‘family’ vaues- like abortion, traditional marriage, religious liberty, etc. You’re using the term in a way that is unfamiliar to me. It seems to be that a politician’s personal virtue is more important than his stance on issues.Who has ever argued for that as a serious matter of principle? (I’m guessing no one.) I don’t count opportunistic arguments against a political opponent.

PS: I could get on the same page with you about the politics of gun rights if and only if you weren’t advocating unilateral capitulation as a response to emotionally charged accusations and televised tantrums. I know it’s become a meme, but that literally is how we got Trump. You already stipulated the propsed regulations wouldn’t be worthwhile policy. It’s just politics. Okay. Get something if you give something. Trade the left the bump stocks and extended magazines for medical facility regulation and admitting privileges. These kids are having a March for Our Lives. Introduce them to The March for Life. Quid pro quo.

It seams like Trump might agree with you on the just do something on guns.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/20/trump-signs-a-memo-telling-attorney-general-sessions-to-ban-devices-that-turn-weapons-into-machine-guns.html

I would gladly trade no more Bump Stocks for at least a temporary end to the current gun control talk.

Trump siding with me, because he’s not misrepresenting my position as “capitulation.” Do something to break the back of the rising, out-of-control emotional mob; and do something to gut the “the NRA will never do ANYTHING” argument.

Like I said on Twitter today–hilarious if it’s TRUMP who saves the Right from itself on guns.

The reason the “do nothing” argument has such resonance is because after 100+ years of dealing with the progressive movement, we know that we can’t give them an inch, or else they’ll just come back in a few months and demand more inches. We are not dealing in good faith with concerned citizens; we are dealing with fanatics who will never stop pushing no matter what we offer them. The only way to counter them is to say, “No.”
