“All true pro-lifers oppose the death penalty.” Michael usually says some less than thoughtful things, but this one takes the cake. I guess God and the Catholic Church (see Romans chapter 13 and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, not to mention statements from Pope Benedict/Joseph Ratzinger and pretty much all the Church Fathers and other important historical theologians) and all us other Christians who believe capital punishment is legitimate aren’t true pro-lifers. Time to turn off this podcast.

I didn’t say “Catholics,” I said “pro-life.” Plenty of pro-death Catholics in the world (alas) and pro-birth-control ones, too. If you choose to kill someone you don’t have to, you aren’t “pro-life.”
