Caravan Of Illegals Marches To Make Trump’s Case

The caravan of would-be illegal immigrants making its way to the US border might as well have “Vote Trump 2020” banners waving overhead. Kausha Luna of the Center for Immigration Studies has the background.

@michaelgraham, where has this wonderful neocon perspective on Iraq been? You are exactly right! We should have stayed and done for Iraq what we did for Japan, Korea, and Germany. We had no strategy for exiting these countries. It’s time to push back on the revisionist history that has given us the current isolationist moment. Iraq was on its way to stability and modernization when Obama pulled out all of our troops.

@michaelgraham , I’m a few days late (I’m on a 1-week delay of listening to podcasts), but I wrote a post about the hot dog/sandwich debate a while ago. Be warned, it also contains opinions about ketchup that you likely disagree with.

I happened to be throwing away some old Weekly Standards the other day, and I came across an article about Iraq from 2011. Turns out, even while the troops were still there, Obama was already screwing up Iraq. An election had resulted in what amounted to a tie between a more secular coalition, and the Shiite party — and Obama backed the Shiite party!

It seems insane but, then again, it’s consistent with Obama’s backing Shiite Iran, later on. I think it’s because, to a progressive, the more anti-American side is always the more “authentic“ side.

P.S.: I often like to ask a trick question — How long did we have to leave American troops in Germany and Japan to ensure the success of democracy after World War II? It’s a trick question, of course, because the troops still there …
